Replacement For Cross Slim Rolling Ball Refill

So I have a Cross Click that I really like (it hangs from my ID badge at work and I use it constantly). Everything about it is perfect for me except...

I HATE the ink cartridge! It writes pretty smoothly and the color and whatnot is nice, but it spits and sputters constantly and the Cross "Slim Gel Ink Rolling Ball Refill" (#8910) only comes in a medium (0.7mm) tip.

What I'm searching for is a compatible refill that is similar to a Pilot V5 rollerball or maybe a uni-ball 207 micro/ultra-micro refill. The V5RT refills are a tad too and a little too long (I could cut them off, though). I read somewhere that the uni-ball 207 refills are supposed to interchange with the Cross Selectip refills (#8523, etc) but I haven't found anything for the slim roller cart.

Finding this cartridge would turn a pen I want to love into a pen I REALLY love, hehe. Thanks!

Thanks! I've replied in the other thread, but I guess I'll reply here as well:

Which Sheaffer refill fits the Click? I'm excited about the possibility of not having spent 20-something bucks on a pen that I'll never use (even though I suppose that's a small amount to spend to a lot of the people on FPN...)

Thanks!

Hmm... their cross-reference chart shows that some pens can use the rollerball/fine line refills as well as the 'K' style ballpoints. I'm generally not a huge fan of ballpoints or gels. Honestly, I'd be ecstatic if I could make a Pilot or Uniball roller refill fit in there. After my fine nib Platinum FP, the Pilot V5 is probably my favorite writer (too bad they don't make a more substantial body that uses the same ball/feed mechanism).

When I started looking for a substitute, I also tried the Pilot and Uni refills I had on hand, as well as standard ISO sized rollerball refills, and every one was too fat to fit into the barrel. There may be other refills that can be made to fit, but I didn't find any locally.

The one Zebra refill I had wouldn't fit into the barrel.

mine works... you'll need and extra spring -not the whole spring, I cut one to 12mm. and of course, the extra piece of plastic tubing.

I forgot to mention that it's the refill that fits in the zebra expandable

I dunno... mine doesn't have the metal casing.

edited: just went back to the site and checked the refill for the expandable and it only shows the casing one...??!!

That's what I did. I had a non-working one in a crusty F-301, and it does, indeed, fit. I used the same extender as for the Fisher refill, and the small bit of tubing I'd had over the tip end of the Sheaffer refill, and it was a perfect fit. Now I just need to buy one that works. :-)

For years I've had a Cross Selectip Rolling Ball pen (very simple looking) and I thought I had a second Selectip which I don't use but looks the same as the one I've been using. The other week I bought a couple of cartridges for the Selectip and tried to put one in the spare pen but it didn't fit. The tip is too big to go in. What model is this pen. Does it use the cartridge for the 'Spire'?

If I understand correctly, the Click does use the same refill as the Spire and Classic Century rollers. The Selctip refill is simply larger.

Lovemy51:

Below is a photo showing the two Cross rolling-ball pens side-by-side. The one on the left can use the Selectip cartridge; the one on the right requires a smaller rolling ball. Notice the right one: the metal tip is different (more tapered) and the hole is smaller. As I used the pen over the years I never noticed the difference and never looked at the refill. I threw the last one away years ago and kept using the one on the left.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
