Sailor Kop Mosaique Brown (M) Nib

Pen2009

Recommended Posts

After getting a Red and a Green, I could not resist adding this brown one.

The packaging: The same as before. An appropriate presentation of the pen with a bottle of Sailor Gentle Black ink.

Te pen: Compared to the Red, this Brown one has more subdued elegance as brown is more conservative. I like this understated elegance. The downside of the KOP size is I could not use my 2 pen or 3 pen cases as a KOP is too fat for those types of pen cases. I can fit it in a 5-pen roll type case, however. The filling is a Sailor converter with a typical KOP gold accent.

The nib: A big KOP 21 K nib. This is an M and is suitable for daily writing, while good for a signature at the same time. Based on the dip test, the nib is very smooth as expected from Sailor's M nibs.

Another beautiful pen! I am overwhelmed by the 3 KOP Mosaiques.

You should have a leather pen case specially made for the 3 KOPs , for example ,from Takuya brand.

The marbled brown acrylic resin is really beautiful in this KOP version of the Mozaiques.

For me, the favourite between my two Profit Standard sized Mozaiques, is the Brown colour by far.

My Brown Mozaique is often in use, usually with a brown ink (Tsukushi, Yama-guri,...).

You have a wonderful collection.

Will you also get the Grey Mozaique, to complete the series?

That crossed my mind; but, I am not in a hurry to get one for the sake of just adding another color. I have simply so many fountain pens already.

I am expecting a delivery of a Pilot Custom Ichii (with an F nib) in a few days, actually, instead.

To want to add that extra colour, you would have to really like it.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
