I've been looking at the G2 Limited also, but so far I've been limited to monitor eyeballing.

 

Throughout my day, I always like to have a pen handy and the G2 has been my goto. You can lend it out with no qualms. A very reliable writer for me. I too was thinking of a G2 with more heft and I started google on a quest for other pens that take G2 refills. Most are capped pens, which is a non-started for me. One handed operation is a must and a deal breaker.

 

The Rotring 600 ballpoint, capless, clickable, and out of production, is available via ebay as nos, looks very nice, but commands a hefty price, and I don't know for certain if it will take a G2 refill without modification. I don't really want to be pulling out the exacto knife whenever the ink runs dry.

I used a G2 Limited as my backup or loaner pen for a couple of years before I realized I could use a G2 refill in my Lamy 2000 rollerball. Neither are getting much use as my fountain pens work for just about everything I need.

Yes, it fits in a LAMY 2000 rollerball. I've just placed on of the G-2 (fine) refills in it. Doesn't seem to write well at a lower/FP angle (lots of scratching). Writes good at a 70-90° angle, but I'm not comfortable writing at such an angle. I remember the LAMY M63 refill to write smoothly at a lower angle (however, it had problems with skipping lines).

I have one of the plastic G2 pens in burgundy, I think the pen colour scheme looks great as well as the ink itself .

I checked the refill from my Uni Click-Gel and it fits my G2.

After a year and half of use some scratch marks appears along the metallic barrel. Now I'm using Pentel and UniBal gel refills, I like them more than Pilot G2 refills. Also I start using a Pentel EnerGel Alloy RT Silver, it's more thin and lighter than Pilot G2 Limited. But in Pentel you cannot use a G2 refill, the tip of refill being thicker than Energel nose. So be careful!

In the picture above there is a Lamy Tipo, using a Lamy M66 refill, but you can use any roller-ball or gel refill you like! I have a Schneider Topball 850 black and work fine.

I cannot use this pen ever again...

 

I have two of these, the silver and slate grey one.

It feels very nice and has great heft, but I think there's an iron maiden of some sort inside the barrel.

 

I dropped the first one with a .38 G2 barrel in it.

The tip was fully retracted and it fell on its side. The silver point of the pen didn't even touch the ground when it made contact, yet the G2 refill did not work at all; it bent the point.

 

The second one, I dropped the pen with a different refill and the refill didn't work again... 2 refills brought to nothing thanks to the barrel.

 

I drop my .38 G2 in its proprietary plastic casing all the time and nothing happens.

I think the pen is too heavy and very poorly protects against shock.

 

Due to that, I give the pen a 3/5, unfortunately.

I don't care what's holding it; I am a die-hard fan and lover of the G2 .38 refill writes so much better than any of my $100 gold fountain pens.
