Sailor Kop Mosaique Red (M Nib)

Recommended Posts

Here is a Sailor KOP Mosaique Red with an M nib. I will make my pictures do their work for me;). As a journalist at heart (I studied jouralism at a college in New York), I feel I am cheating myself. I already have a Green one with a B nib. Similar to the green one, there is a celluolid-esque look to it.

Packaging: no nonsense KOP box with a bottle of Sailor Gentle Black. I have several of them already and I am going to start using this ink.

The pen: As you can see, the pen is adorned with a very unique pattern. The resin has a high quality feel to it.

The nib: A large sized Sailor 21K nib. The nib is smooth as expected from Sailor nibs. I think Sailor could not stick an F nib on this model because of the heavier and larger sized body.

The filling system: a Sailor converter. I expect no issue with the ink capacity per se. Is it just me? But, in a KOP pen, the sailor converter looks like it can hold more than smaller models.

The comparion with the Green one:

The red Mozaique is really stunning in the KOP size.

I wish my hand would be large enough to comfortably use a KOP size pen.

The larger pen & a minimum of rings really shows off the beautiful red acrylic resin.

I love my red Profit version, but this KOP is over the top.

Enjoy!

This pen is inked with the Iroshizuku Fuyugaki, which is a great match for this pen, if I may say. (it is easy for me to remember which pen is inked with which ink. I am getting a little tardy on this front.)

  • 1 month later...

I happen to own the mosaique red one as well and I nick named it -coz I really enjoy to write with it - my KOI pen. It just reminds me of these colorful fishes. If I'm stuck writing I get a little inspiration from its ever changing colors.

Great pictures! Enjoy your pens!

For sale: M625 red/silver, P395 gold, Delta Fellini.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
