Very nice.

Good to know that the sailor music nib is so smooth. The sailor 1911 I own (extra fine nib) has some tooth, but I guess that's the nibsize...

The red color (mine's black) is stunning, as is your photography. Thanks for the review.

May you enjoy your pen in good health and for a long time!

Poetry I write: http://eendichter.nl (mostly english, occasional dutch)

Thanks for this review! You seem to be really enjoying your Sailor. That's what it's all about, isn't it? I love my Sailor Realo with a Medium nib, and I am sure I will want to get another. Your review makes the music nib irresistible!

Very nice handwriting! Do you find that the music nib would work as an every day pen? Is the line too broad for that?

Hi,

I am no expert, but I would think that the issue would be how big one writes over how broad a nib might be.

I'm currently waiting on a stub italic customization on a LAMY 2000M -stainless steel- and I got a broad to start with. In my emails to the nib-miester I mentioned that my writing is not small. For example, it's a bit of an effort to write small enough to fit my address in the return lines on envelopes. He suggested a broad in that case. I already have an older LAMY 2000 with an EF nib that gets the job done just fine and is a very smooth writer. So I figured, I already have the must-haves taken care of and I'm going extravagant anyway, may as well go whole hog and get something with some character while I'm spending the money.

Then again, maybe I need magnifying glasses instead of a wider nib. :roflmho:

I'm looking forward to making bill paying more enjoyable sometime in April.

By the way, that is a beautiful pen you got!

Do you find you have to keep the pen at a steep angle to write smoothly? Others have said that is the case with this pen.

Sailor nibs]

That's so interesting!

(Please add the nib name)

I wish the exemples were in cursive.

I'm interested in the 1911 Ivory white fountain pen but I would like the nib to be a music one.

Is it possible?

thank you!

You said you got the pen at Sevenger? Where is that?

Levenger is a company that sells pens, inks, leather goods etc. they are not inexpensive but have some good sales and sell nice "stuff".

They are an Internet merchant and you can find them here: http://www.levenger.com/

This post contains 100% recycled electrons

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
