A New Wahl Eversharp Skyliner?

CoolFool

Recommended Posts

I was just looking at Brian Gray's pictures from the L.A. Pen Show and came across this photo (enigmatically) labeled, "The New Wahl Eversharp." Does anyone know anything about this? Is there a new Skyliner? Where can they be had - and what price? Are they any good?

Syd aka Wahlnut and his partner bought Wahl-Eversharp and have started to release new pens.

Syd made the announcement on FPN a while ago. Syd was already showing prototypes at the last SF Pen show. Hmmmm....someone is not reading my pen show reports.

The website is http://www.wahleversharp.com and is supposed to go live tomorrow.

You can find more pics from the Pen Show in my LA Pen Show report as well as some comments about the pens since I tested a few while at the show.

As for pricing, they range from roughly $150 to $329. I'm trying to remember the prices from the price sheet Syd showed me. The carbon fiber version was something like $279 while the plain plastic ones were $150.

Guilty! But my shame at not having read your pen show reports is completely eclipsed by my joy at the promise of the revival of this beautiful pen! I've been hoping that this would happen!

I personally like the carbon fiber pen.

Based on the pen show interest, the aluminum pens were the most popular. The ones Syd had sold out and he had to take orders.

Hey Ricky, I can't remember: was the carbon fiber pen one of the one's with the ceramic nib? I'm going to look at the site when it comes live, so if you don't remember, no worries...

Also want a new Parker 51 that isn't ridiculously overpriced.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Just buy one of the millions of 51s out there.

I can probably hook you up with one of these from the gang of two and a half pens.

semi-flex nib or not?

At the Wahl site, it looks like all the pens are offered have no notation as to fine/medium/broad, etc. I did notice one that said semi-flex, but I forgot which model it was.

Are they not going to offer a range of nibs? :crybaby: :crybaby:

Hope that's not the case. If it is, I think they will lose a lot of customers. It does look like a really nice pen, but I am saving my dinaris for the New England Pen Show in June in Boston.

Just ordered this one. Was a little disappointed by the inability to specify a nib (F, M, or B ). But at least it's a "Semi flex." We'll see what that actually means.

Look on the FAQS page. It tells you what nib comes with which pen.

Yeah, I see that I can any size nib I want... as long as what I want is a medium.

Give it time. I have an idea of their strategy. They are not going to take the cheap route and use Bock or JoWo nibs.

Syd was asking for feedback. Sounds like you have some feedback.

I'm so happy that the Wahl-Eversharp company has risen from the ashes. I wish that they made their pens with 14k gold nibs like they used to, other than that the pens are beautiful.

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Yes, the website is very up. Not perfect a few minor details to be worked out. Go to wahleversharp.com and look around. Enough pens are sold to active reviewers that the reviews should be coming in any moment now. I know of 3 in process so far. I suppose they will land in the pen reviews forum.

Overall I am very grateful to the entire pen community for being so welcoming of the return of

WAHL-EVERSHARP to the marketplace and of our efforts to get it there. Very gratifying. Hopefully The upcoming new Dorics and Gold Seal flat tops will be as well received as our new Skyline Series.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
