Roberto,

Thanks for posting this. Beautiful! You have worked hard to amass this fine collection of high end pens!

Which is your favorite to look at?

Which is you favorite to write with?

Now, what Wahl Eversharp pens are you going to focus on next?

Syd,

I really like all of them, with a slight preference for the jade and the rosewood.

Due to the Personal Point section, I prefer to write with a stub manifold nib that I move from one pen to another :D

I really would like to find a red hard rubber pen in this line, maybe living in Europe I will find one of those said to be produced "for the Danish market". In 2004 one was sold at Christie's of London for about 1300$ .... :(

Also a black chased rubber would be fine.... and of course a better Lazulatic and the missing pencils.

Great collection, can someone tell me what the pen is on the far left of the picture (first pen, dark). I know someone who is off loading his pen collection, and he has this pen, and does anyone know what the current maket value is for this pen so I can make a reasonable offer.

Again thats one great collection!

It's an oversized Doric in the Cathay color, a very nice pale green. This pen color comes with nickel trim.

Hope this helps!

Roberto, you described the pen on the far right, which is an accurate description of course for that pen. I think auscan is asking about the Black Hard Rubber that looks to be a Grecian Border #2 from about 1920-23. A pen like that one in great unused condition would bring about US$95-110. In used conditon and with some wear on the pattern and a little discoloration the pen would move well into user grade and go for maybe $35-50. But that is just my opinion.

 Sorry!

Ok the first on the left is greek pattern BHR pen, with a #6 Wahl nib. Is the same diameter of the OS signatures, but is shorter.

I don't know what model actually is, but I don't think it has been shortened because of the pattern and the position of the lever.

Syd, can you help me?

:D

I did not expect to hear the #6 nib Hmmm, #6 nib with one wide band...that would make it a Signature era pen from about 1924-6. A #6 nib Grecian Border only came in the Model#766AZRC, so the length is a mystery. The diameter of that number pen would be .54" barrel, .6" cap and 5.5"length, capped. All 7 hundred numbered pens were 5.5" long regardless of the diameter or the nib size. That your is shorter is a mystery to me at the moment. I will look further.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
