Prompted by the discussion in this thread: link, I have got in touch with my local Senator agent and have obtained a quote. The pen is the Senator President, a piston filled pen with steel nib and Ebonite feeder.

 

More information on the pen here

 

I have made the enquiry and obtained the quotation.

 

Nib: Only Medium steel nibs are available ex-stock. Other sizes have to be imported from Germany, a long lead time, agent is finding out more about it from their principals. So at the moment only M are available. Total ex-stock only 10 pieces are available.

 

Minimum Order quantity: 05Nos therefore, atleast 5 members have to commit to buy in order for this group buy to take off.

 

Cost per pen: 150USD paypal inclusive, shipping extra depending on location. Figure 25-30USD by EMS to most locations. I am awaiting details on the type of pen box included. The shipping is expensive due to the large and heavy book type gift box with ink bottle as confirmed to me by the agent just now. Image.

 

Modus operandi:

 

Pls email me to enquire or commit to buy. Bookings will be open till the 15th of February 2013. If I have recd atleast 5 firm commitments by this date, I will ask for full payment from each member. Once the monies are received, the order will be placed on the dealer. Allow two weeks for delivery to me. Once the items are delivered to me, I will ship out, allow 1-2weeks for packing and posting to you. I have a day job and other commitments.

 

Pls mention your FPN handle, Country, Zip/Pin code in your email to me.

Very much appreciate the work on this. I have one but am now contemplating another and will watch this thread. I am in the US so I'm guessing $185 total? Secondly, as you know this pen features a removable nib unit, when you next talk to your supplier could you ask them if nib units are available and at what cost??

185 is ballpark right, around 10USD lower if you decide not to take the packaging...

 

I have already enquired, unfortunately, they have no nib units available and they will not sell only the nib, since they have no supply of the just the nib unit.

Yes, this is open only till the 15th of this month. so on the 16th we will know if this project will take off or not. so far there is only one confirmed interest, so it looks bleak.

That's excellent, i have responded to your email. Actually I will be shipping the pens to you. They will deliver all the pens to me as a single consignment.

 

Yes shipping will be combined.

 

So if shaporama is taking one, then two more firm commitments are now required to make this project a success. :)

I'm honestly very interested Hari, but unfortunately at that price I just can't commit to getting one right now. I hope two more people (or if shaporama does indeed take two, only one more person) express their interest and commit to getting one. They really do look like excellent pens.

I just hope that even though I can't participate in this deal, maybe it can be done again at a later time. When I get a steady income, I would jump on it. It's a really good looking pen! It sucks being a FP fan and not having an income, lol.

I am using the Indian standard Time. GMT +5 1/2 hours.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
