That's a striking pen. I've never seen anything like it.

Thank you for the image, which looks great on my computer screen.

A pen for ninjas.

Its appearance is the antithesis of the Montblanc Louis XIV.

I'm way behind in life, but will get caught up. I've restored a few pens lately, but here I'm working backwards with the most recent. Just finished up this 1929 Parker Duofold Sr. Streamline. I'm also realzing that, while the shot was an experiment, it is also the "colorful" inversion of my earlier post of the Ensso 'stealth' pen. Weird how that worked out...

The Platinum Plaisir and Balance pens I just received:

Cheap, but still special to me. :)

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Thank you for posting the image above.

Persimmon Swirl is an especially apt name.

I like the vibrant colors!

Thanks, Tom K. It's my favorite shot of my favorite pen.

A Blackstone Maxim "Heavy Metal" machined from solid brass and fitted with gold trim with a medium #5 German made Iridium nib (apparently) and

a Blackstone Maxim made from recycled Corian in Granite and chrome finish with a medium #5 German Made Iridium Nib (I know I know but that's what's written on them lol)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
