Aww, I want to order one. But I'm an Anglican/Episcopal priest and I WANT the words "Parson's Essential" imprint for that very reason!

Why don't you contact Peter Ford and ask him. He may be able to find one in stock, or if not, perhaps he could do one for you. He is very helpful and will go the extra mile to make happy customers!

The branding should always be on the side, very very lightly. Even on the amber and blue, although it is even less apparent. Currently on the Churchman's Prescriptor, the word 'Italix' appears on the back of the cap band, again very small. MrPen

So Mr. Ford, there are no examples where that branding is not on the barrel? Or there aren't supposed to be, anyway?

Mine has the imprint and I had my name put on the cap. It looks to be laser etched and not engraved. The gold has come off my name. I was thinking of using the white crayon method to highlight the etch a bit. Same thing I did with my Stipula Passaporto. I am just not sure the etch is deep enough to take the crayon like the engraved Passaporto.

I know how you feel! I've been wanting one since the first week I seriously got interested in FPs, last year. And even more so when the amber and blue versions were released! But with the conversion rate and then shipping here to the States, I simply cannot afford it. But that hasn't stopped me from recommending it to everyone who asks- lol. If you check out another thread here by a new member, rbeef, I'm the one who recommended it to him and I guess "sold" him on it in the Virtual Pen Posse chat room one night (it is for his birthday!). I am eagerly awaiting his experience with it, so he can tell me if my faith in Italix and the Parson's Essential is well deserved, despite never having had one myself.

No, there shouldn't be. On the amber it is very feint, but it is there.

Mr Ford I will be looking for the word Italix on my Churchman Prescriptor. An awesome pen though the engraving colour sort of faded away in less than 48 hours...left with an etched name on my pen.I will look at the band....maybe Italix is still there.

Rob Maguire (Plse call me "M or Mags" like my friends do...)I use a Tablet, Apple Pencil and a fountain pen. Targas, Sailor, MB, Visconti, Aurora, vintage Parkers, all wonderful.

I've just had another look at mine, in a good light, with a loupe.

Indeed the branding is there on the amber. I've rubbed it over with a white pencil to make it clearer. The top pen is my original Parson's Essential.

Try as I might,I still can't find any branding on my more recent black one with the celtic design on the band. Not saying it's not there, but I can't see it.

I got my PE yesterday. I keep looking for the barrel inscription, but cannot find it. I'm not complaining, I actually think it's better this way. And it has Celtic model on the cap, yey!

My PE does have the dot-like engraving ever so lightly visible. Very neat indeed. Date of purchase somewhere spring 2012 (don't know exactly anymore). Without any coloring whatsoever. It appears much less visible than on mrs. Reeds' pictures...

This is a pen previously unknown to me and I ordered one solely on the strength of comments in this thread. (How's that for the power of FPN ).

My black Parson's Essential arrived yesterday and what a great pen it is. The inscription is there on the barrel in small grey lettering.

I didn't see an amber version of the pen on the website though. I think I might have chosen one if I had. Still, black is so understated - very me.

Yesterday is history.

Tomorrow is a mystery.

Today is a gift.

That's why it's called the present

You have to actually scroll down the page for both the amber and blue choices. It's not a drop down "choose your color" type of thing, although I personally think that would make them more visible as options! Congrats on getting your PE though- which nib did you choose and did you opt for the free engraving on the cap?

An update:

I recently purchased my second PE pen with the fine cursive nib - I wasn't completely happy with the nib and so (thanks to a great exchange policy) I switched it for the fine italic...

PS: If I was forward thinking I would have posted a handwriting sample with the fine cursive nib for comparison but, alas - I was not that sensible!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
