La Pen Show Akkerman Ink Group Buy

Hi!

I sort of lost track of which post to respond to, but I'd like a bottle of #5, Shocking Blue; 2nd Choice (NOT 2nd bottle) #3, Akkerman Blue.

I'll be at the show Thursday and Friday and probably Saturday; does this mesh with your plans to be there so I can pick up and pay? Or did you say pay upfront?

Thanks for doing this. Pendleton Brown had a bottle of one of the blues last year and yeah, gotta have a bottle of blue myself.

You found the correct post. We will order you a bottle of Blue, either #5 or #3, as a back-up. We will snag a table on one of the early days, you will know us by the bottles of Akkerman Ink. You can pay in cash at the show; we expect the ink to be about $30.00 per bottle. See you in LA.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Great! I'll find you by the bottles and the swarm of ink-fanatics gathered around. Cash is understood.

A chance to have Hopjesbruin! (#22) HOORAY!

I'll be in LA Friday, Saturday, leaving Sunday. Should I bring cash or send Amberlea via Paypal?

THANK YOU, LAS VEGAS PEN POSSE, FOR DOING THIS!

Either way works. We will have a bottle of #22 for the ethernautrix. You might want to wait and pay cash. We plan to round our cost up to the nearest dollar. We're doing this as a service for the FPN community; we're not trying to make any profit. We will, of course, get a deal on any ink we order!

I just got a mental image of an ethernautrix doing an "Akkerman Happy Dance". Whoa!

Please put me down for 1 bottle of 15 (Voorhout Violet).

At this point, I'm planning to be there on Sunday.

Thanks much.

It's a dusky, serious violet ink, in keeping with the Klingon world view ( or should I say galactic view? )

Dankuwel, Peter! I'd love to go to The Hague myself, but it probably won't happen this year. This is a good option in the meantime!

Oh dear! An American who knows Dutch. Have to watch out now!smile.gif

Perhaps you could help with another of the ink names. Bekakt Haags has been described elsewhere on FPN, but I find their definition hard to believe. Dankuwel. (The extent of my Dutch, except for Heineken.)

Ya' know, reading this thread drives home the best of what FPN is all about.

Thanks LV Posse.

And that pool area AltecGreen mentioned is also the after dark (and into the morning)

meeting place for, cigars, BYOB adult beverages, and serious pen chat, so if needed

you could also use that as a pick-up point.

Look forward to seeing you at the show.

Thanks for the info. I enjoy all those items you mentioned. Sounds like fun.

No, but I've been an admirer since I was little, and I cook a mean dish of Klingon GAAGH. Got the Star Trek cookbook for Christmas!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
