+1 On this supplier.....I have used him and found him to be very good too :thumbup:

Thank you for giving the review about the seller friend!!!!!! :thumbup:

What about customs duty?

I have never paid a penny in customs duty for pens from China to the UK....but they have all been low value pens... $10 or less...of course this may be different in India... :unsure:

Oh I see! :)

I think I should order and then see what happens! :)

Have you faced any situation that the pen that you have received from this seller has some defects?

No defects so far...however, my view on this is....for the price I pay for the pens from China if I do get a 'dud' I can and will stand the loss, it would cost more to return the pen than take the loss and use another seller next time....

I usually buy at 'buy it now prices' which include free shipping ....the highest I have paid is $20 including P&P

it was a Beijing Jinxing A28.....it writes as smooth as my Lamy 2000....which cost me just a little more :crybaby:

Sorry for the late reply friend! :)

What is "P&P"? And what is "make offer" in ebay? Also another thing, what is the difference between "add to cart" and "buy it now" in ebay?

I think "buy it now" will directly lead to the payment page and "add to cart" will add the selected item to the cart and continue shopping to buy more. Am I right? I am asking these because I haven't bought anything from ebay yet! :)

P&P is Postage & Packing.... that is...what it costs to wrap the pen (hopefully safely) and to post it to you....

"Make offer" is usually used in "Buy it Now" type sales.....I don't think there is any difference between buy it now and add to cart in this instance...both lead directly to the payment page....I think you have 'guessed' correctly in this case....

I am no ebay specialist and I'm happy to be corrected by more knowledgeable members here :thumbup:

I do not know how to find that out. Even if they got you for 80-90% of the price, he has some nice pens for $6.50 USD with free shipping.

I just ordered this one, I made him an offer and he took it.

Great! :thumbup:

After you receive the package, don't forget to upload and post the photos in this topic's reply thread. Ok? :)

Well I got this pen and his photo did it justis, so I used his photo. I have bought 6 or 7 pens from this seller and never had a dud yet. Even the Hero 329 I got from him is a real nice writer.

Do not let old pens lay around in a drawer, get them working and give them to a new fountain pen user.

@ 51ISH ..... Thank you for the suggestion friend! :)

But, is "ebay" a reliable website?

How long does they take for delivering items?

There are some very reliable Chinese fountain pen sellers, shipping directly out of China, on ebay. I have dealt with half a dozen, all of whom gave good honest service and sold pens as good as they make in that country. I am in Canada, which is a bit further from China than you and I have received packages in as little as five days and as much as 21.

51ISH mentioned these ebay stores which ship directly from China all of which I have found honest, reliable and efficient. I have not purchased from the other two stores he mentioned.

Hello everybody!

I am searching for fountain pen stores in Kolkata (a place in India). Actually I want to buy some original Chinese fountain pens in reasonable price! Please help me find some stores if you know any of them in Kolkata.

Also if you can, suggest me some reliable websites!

@Abhudaya

Nomoskar. Its good to see people from Kolkata. You can find a decent shop in Golpark (Ramkrishna Mission golpark, not the Kashba one). Its on the road towards Gariahat, on the left side of road, assuming Gariahat in front, and you're standing in Golpark. Its a small shop, but has a good collection for Baoer, Jinhao and Hero. Lets meet up the next time I'm in Kolkata, it'll be good to go pen-searching with a fellow Bengali.

@soum

Thanks for sharing details about Pen Hospital. I have always heard about them. Didn't have the money when I was in Kolkata. Now I'm in Bangalore and hunt for FP shops when I'm in Kolkata.

Same happens with me often - now that I'm in Bangalore I keep making lists of must-do pen hunting when I'm back in Kolkata. The trouble, though, is that I'm usually there for a week or less, so time is rather restricted.

Btw, did you get the Chinese pens that you were looking for?

@soum,

Have you found some good shops in Bangalore? I'm in the lookout for some. From where do you get the ink?

The basic Hero pens are quite easily available.

Any specific ink you're looking for? Camlin, Chelpark, and Bril are available at most stationery stores. Sap a Book House has them too. Parker Quink is also widely available. Landmark at Forum has Pelikan 4001 bottles and few more. William Penn sells Quink and also higher-end ink such as Caran d'Ache, Waterman, Private Reserve, etc. Also try Flipkart for some inks.

I wanted the "exotic" colors (ruby-red, emerald-green, turquoise-blue, crimson-violet) from Chelpark. So far no leads in Bangalore. I have bought Sheaffer and PrivateReserve from William Penn, but they are on the expensive side.

Somebody in my office suggested Avenue Road for both FP and ink; planning to go there sometime. Any other places you know of?

I have all the Chelpark colors that you mentioned above except crimson-violet. Last week I saw Emerald Green and Turquoise were in stock at Sapna Book House. You'd also find them at Avenue Road.

A quick heads-up - Meenakshi Stores remains closed on Sundays (just in case you planned to go over a weekend). I went there two Sundays ago and discovered their schedule. I too need to go there soon.smile.gif

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
