As BeRa explained, the source of the information about the letter is Nishimura's article here.

By the way, accredited web site where we can see other arrow´s Sheaffer that I add to my collection.

And there's this:

Duo Fold...Bill Fold...right in the same ad!!

Is that your whole argument? You do not strain. With millions and millions of previous advertising impacts (at that time SEP 2,2 million circulation) in nationwide and local campaigns every fall for years of Duofold Health Underwear -these are only a few- salesman Parker not create the word "Duofold". There is nothing new under the sun.

... and we still have to wait to 1922 to see the first Parker Duofold ad with certain scope.

A jet just flew over my house. Good thing I live near SFO or I'd be thinking about UFOs.

Wow. So you believe Parker copied "Duofold" from another company making another kind of product.

Thank you for finally conceding that it makes sense that Sheaffer could have copied their White Dot from Dunhill. I appreciate that you have totally changed your position on this.

This is real progress!

I was hoping we'd get back around to that at some point.

My point, which is not refuted by any arguments with respect to Sheaffer's early "Bull's Eye of Perfection" advertising campaign, is that when Sheaffer later adopted the white dot, that was the first time it signified (1) quality and (2) a guarantee. These new associations, I believe, were derived from Dunhill, which had more recently begun using a white dot in exactly the same way on its pipes.

I think you have discovered the origins of the heated pen pocket found in the FPN Kilts.

Of all the discussion regarding where Sheaffer intended their TUCKAWAY to be "carried" I don't remember this being an option...........

Problem was that in all tests a Tucky just rattled around in that vast cavern.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
