DearFriends

Aftera very long long wait, the Tame Sukashi Seiryu Blue Dragon finally landed.

Yes,I love it, and yes, the wait was well worth it.

Thepen is exquisite, and the nib - my firststub, perfectly tuned by Mr.Mottishaw - further augmenting thealready excellent Nakaya writing experience.

Ihave attached some pretty amateurish photographs of this work of art, and Ihope that you enjoy them despite my poor photography skills.

Thankyou Mr.Mottishaw, thank you Nakaya !!

BestWishes to All

Adam

Ah, the blue dragon! that one is still on my wishlist. How long did you have to wait for it?

The dragon has come out of your pen I see; nice touch. Never seen that before. Do you still see the dragon on the cap?

What is the pen next to it?

The pictures are ok by the way, so don't be worried about that. Have fun with this beautifull pen!

Congratulations. I think I had one of the first Blue Dragons and it was delivered at the start of the year having been ordered the August before. It is my number one pen. Dear TDL and Chelsea supporter !!

Thank you for your kind comments. I remember your posts well, and in fact, these "helped me along" in making my decision with regard to this lovely pen.

Dear Mainecoon,

Many thanks to you too for your kind comments.

The dragon head has been tastefully painted onto the cap and is not hid by any means by the roll stopper.....

The pen next to it is my first Nakaya, long cigar in the black red finish, M nib - smooth as silk !

best wishes

Adam

Beautiful Pen! I like your choice of roll stopper--very appropriate! I must say that I like my Nakayas very much; each is a little work of art. I have not yet purchased one of the special editions, but I have a Housoge Kikyo Platinum Long Cigar that is gorgeous. Some day I need to get out my camera, find a background. . . .

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Congratulations on a lovely pen! I have the same pen, minus the dragon roll stopper, with a BB ground to a stub nib by John Mottishaw. It is absolutely my favorite pen. I use it daily and have not tired of it yet. The nib is fabulous and the dragon looks like it's coming up as time goes by. Good luck with it, may it give you many years of writing pleasure.

I have lately been yearning for the same pen, only in the aka tamenuri.....maybe I'll sell off some pens to help finance a second dragon!

I am very happy to have helped. Enjoy the pen and I hope Spurs give you less stress and worry than The Blues have given me over the course of four and a half decades.

  • 2 years later...

I have the Blue Dragon Naka Ai. You can sit and look at the dragon endlessly. I really van't describe the Ao color other than to say it radiates. One has to hold the pen to really understand.

Please enjoy.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
