Pelikan M910 Toledo

I'm very happy today as I didnt expect to receive this old style pen complete with its correct box and paper. IMHO, it is not easy to find this pen in pristine condition. This pen can now be a companion to its other M900 brother.

Here goes the photos..

Awesome looking pen. I really like the old style M800 with the gold/ silver disc at the bottom and the gold/ silver logo on top. Together with the toledo shaft its a total win. Hope to have a toledo myself one day.

When did they stop putting the silver "button" on the barrel end?

I think after 1998, which was after Pelikan changed their gold disc to silk screen cap top, thus removing the end barrel gold/silver disc. However, there were some LE pens post 1998 would still retain the disc cap/barrel ie. Icarus, Expo pens, Gaudi etc

Is your engraving on cap band W.Germany or Germany?

I was once told by somebody well regarded that there are two kinds on the 910s, made before and after unification, of which truth I also want to know of if possible.

Very nice pen

I agree old style is far better.

The M910 I have is with "Germany" engravement. While the M900 is with "W. Germany". Can be seen one of the photos..

Not sure whether the M910 came with "W. Germany" engravement, but I have seen M710 (Old style) with "W.Germany" engravement at the bottom of the turning knob.

Great pen, congrats. Is 9xx of the same size as 800?

Yes, I have two M800s (Blue O'Blue and an M810) and two Toledo M910s. Physically they have the same dimensions, but the weights are very different. The Toledos are much heavier.

Thank you. Yes, it must be much heavier due to the metal content. :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
