Hello,

I am Tan Fong Kum and I am new to FPN. I am from Aesthetic Bay Pen Shop in Singapore. Just want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and also inform the pen lovers in South East Asia that there will be a Nakaya/Platiunm Pen Show and Pen Clinic in Singapore from 27-29 Nov 2012.

Nakaya Pen Show & Clinic will be held in Aesthetic Bay ION Orchard #04-14 from Tuesday 27 Nov to Thursday 29 Nov 2012 every day from 11 am till 7 p.m. Existing Nakaya & Platinum customers are warmly invited to bring in their own pens for a complimentary nib customization service. In the event if the schedule is tight, we will limit 2 pens per customer. The remaining pens will be adjusted later during the lull period. However we are flexible depending on the schedule of the nib Master.

A thanksgiving evening will be held on the 29 Nov 2012 Thursday evening. Drinks and food will be served. We encourage interested party to register with us so that we could reserve the time slot for you. Please write to us at sales@aestheticbay.com. Please also indicate whether you are attending the thanksgiving evening on the 29 Nov 2012.

Thank you and best regards

Tan Fong Kum

Hi All,

We are into the second day of the Pen Clinic. Yoshida-san brought some new colours for the show. I thought these are beautiful and wish to share with FPN. Enjoy.

The salmon-pink pens look so marvelously divine.

I agree. The pinks ones... wow!

I love all the news colors Nakaya is producing. We can thank Ricky (AltecGreen) in part for that, I think, as he started ordering custom colors a couple of years ago. Lovely!

The ama iro in this picture and what CFP sells is a bit different than the one I commissioned. The version I commissioned is a bit darker. Maybe I'll post a comparison since I own both versions.

I commissioned the Waka Jusa Iro a year and a half ago along with the Ama Iro (darker version). Good to see my color pics being picked up for production.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
