Thank you as always for your kind words, pavoni...appreciate it!

Yes, pen is 5-5/8" (14.3 cm) long capped of celluloid goodness..... :)

I'm loving this attention. :D

Thanks for such an awesome review, Mark.

I'll bet you are.......

PS. Invoice is in the mail..... ;)

  • 3 weeks later...

This is actually very close to what I want in my custom made FP. So far, I have hesitated from ordering any thing from Edison because the shapes are not really want I've wanted. The only thing close is the Edison Nouveau Encore, but I really dislike the idea of the medallion on the cap (maximum tackiness).

Perhaps I should order from Newton soon.

I'm working with Shawn on a pen that will use the same material but will have some other special things...

After seeing your pics I simply can't wait.

Sounds great, Enrico.....

And the waiting is the hardest part, but the good news is that Shawn is very good in keeping in touch with updates and progress photos once he starts fabricating....

I'm already scheming on a companion pen from Shawn to keep this one company.....

:)

Getting nearer... third in the queue right now.

I'll just say I ordered today an OBB M1000 nib for it.

Daddy, please no more pens - we need food, clothes, books, DENTISTRY...

I was a little slow on the draw, so I'm #6 in Shawn's queue, but getting closer all the time. I'm leaning toward having a couple of sections made, one for a Pelikan M800 nib and the other for Bock/Edison/Bexley nibs. Anyway, I'm excited to see the next few, and especially the one Shawn will be doing for me!

Say Mark, since you are the one who got us intrigued by the great pen Shawn made for you, perhaps you'd like to chip in a little for some of these others. Think about it.

stunning! the only thing i would like to see is closing the gap on the cap where the clip goes -is that just part of the design? it doesn't matter anyways, the thing is beautiful.

Thank you for your good words about the Tortoise....really enjoying using lately....

As for the gap in the clip, I discuss in the review in paragraph 11.......short story....I wanted pen to be super chunky and while Shawn was glad to accommodate, the clips he uses have ring diameter that is a bit smaller. He brought this to my attention and asked what I'd like to do....after thinking about it, I decided to do what we architects often do in modern building design, which is to create what's called a 'reveal', ie, a recess, which exposes the clip ring. I had really wanted an exposed clip ring for this design to add a visual accent in the cap and hark back to the vintage pen design that I modeled the design after....so, that's how this came to be....part of the creative design process which Shawn was happy to do...

very nice pen  remembers me a bit of the omas extra lucens

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
