Most Beautiful Pen You Have Ever Seen

Some beautiful pens are in this thread already, but my votes is for the Eversharp Skyline. Of course, it's all in the eye of the beholder.

+1

My preference is for plain colours and plstic caps - IMH(?)O this really brings out the brilliance of design of the shape of the pen.

The best-looking pen I've seen is the Visconti "Arte Mudejar." The best-looking pen I own is my Pelikan M400 "Honey Almond." I'm clearly partial toward white-colored pens!

Opus 88 Flow steel M nib

Waterman Man 100 Patrician Coral Red 18kt factory stub nib

Not in any order/rank...

Omas paragon in the Arco celluloid... specifically the brown. Nakaya. Entirely too many options to mention just one, but I really like the simple clipless piccolo in aka tamenuri (and the aged version of it is beautiful as well)... and that's not even getting into the makie ones I would be afraid to even use: each one is a superb work of art... and the most recent Edison urushi project. Ah, if only I'd had the $... the mina with such a gorgeous finish...

For me, those are my most wanted and beautiful pens. One day I hope to own an arco and a Nakaya in the aka tamenuri.

Best looking pen I own are the Stipula Etruria FPN, and the Visconti Desert Falls (non LE, same material as the Desert Springs).

I'm far to fickle about pens to choose a most beautiful. I tend to move from one fountain pen family to another. Thus my pen boxes project a slide show of my travels.

There was the Pelikan period where I was seduced by the long arching nib of the M1000 and the simple beauty of the M800 demonstrator. The Conway Stewart period in which I immersed myself in the colors and designs. Bexley caught my eye and left we with a Scheherazade. My Italian phase in which I gathered bright, happy, celluloid pens. There have been several Japanese jaunts. I found Platinum, then Pilot's high end pens, followed by the Pilot M90s. Then there was the Nakaya fling which may not be entirely sated. More recently back to England for the Victorian Yard-O-Led. I just dropped some money over the weekend on some vintage Sheaffers.

When it comes to fountain pens, I seem to fall in love easily and often.

The most beautiful pen for me is my Aurora Optima Auroloide Blue pen with gold nib and trim. Sorry, my camera is hor de combat so I can't post a pic right now.My next and maybe just as beautiful is also an Aurora...the Aurora Optima Auroloide Cardinal Red with gold nib and trim. Guess I am stuck on Italian pens!

Cheers

Since there are, no doubt, thousands of gorgeous pens I've never seen, I'm gonna change the subject of my reply to Most Beautiful Pen I Have Ever Seen That I Have a Snowball's Chance in Hell of Ever Owning. This would be a Namaya aka-tamenuri decapod, of course. I love that red urishi enamel and will not be content until I own one. ;)

Since I started buying, using and collecting pens, I've wanted a Metropolitan Museum of Art Tiffany Pine Bough FP, and I was recently very lucky to pick one up at a very reasonable price from the Classified section. :bunny01:

Website does not do their pens justice - Na Troyka Palekh pens - incredibly beautiful in person. Chance of owning one = chance of winning lottery.

Most beautiful I own? Sheaffer Imperial, black with gold. Understated and timeless. Runners up in the ring my chimes category are W-E Skyline and Parker 50 Falcon.

To me, functionality and usability are part of what makes a fountain pen beautiful. So I would have say that, for me, it's the Pelikan M640 "Polar Lights":

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
