The Travelling Miquelrius

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I'm going to start another "Travelling notebook" project, in this case a Miquelrius, one of the best catalan paper brands (there's Guarro, but it's extremelly expensive), something like this one.

I'd like to keep it organised, so I'll be doing in batches of six people. Once the

You could write whatever you want in it, no more than five pages per person (I'll do the first two/three ones): stories, poems, thoughts... Languages other than English will be appreciated! I intend to use it for educational purposes, so we can keep it easy.

Who's in?

From where will the journey begin? You mentioned "catalan paper brands", are you from spain? I'd like to participate, but I don't know how to send a notebook abroad: will it be in a big envelope? a package? :hmm1: There're so many questions, but so little answers...

Whoops sorry about this.

Yes, the quest will start in Barcelona, and I'd send the notebook in a big envelope by tracked post. You are very welcome to participate.

Made in Spain paper is very often wonderful for fountain pens. Applauding your travelling notebook project, let me point out those flexible 70g MiquelRíus notebooks are not the best for fountain pen inks. The gramage is too low for the quality of the paper and it will bleed, and show-through. A real shame given the better paper used by them in the spiral student notebook line.

Liderpapel, (Comercial de Papelería del Sur in Granada, Andalucía), manufactures a Moleskin clone with a 70g paper that is very fpfriendly and keeps the weight cost also "post-frienly".http://www.copiamaster.es/images/thumbs/0004429_300.jpeghttp://tienda.suministrosmayber.com/WebRoot/StoreES2/Shops/ec1299/4E5E/7A77/9FFA/E0D2/D73F/AC10/1418/2569/36106g.jpgPapelerías Carlin and others carry them, and prices are much more reasonable than MiquelRíus, Moleskins or Rhodias. Made in an old fashioned cream color, they are lined or checkered in an original terracotta burnt orange that works surprisingly well and is easy on the eye.

If weight is not a concern, FORAY notebooks http://www.forayproducts.eu/SP/ have hardcovers, 80g numbered, microperforated, dotted line 96 pages in ivory FSC paper, but prices go up quite a bit.http://www.viking.es/speciallinks/es/vkg/images/cuadernos_off.png

If you want to have a MiquelRius one, I suggest the Cartoné line, in 70g and marble carbdboard covers, with the "extra opaque paper" that can take ink and broad nibs.http://tienda.suministrosmayber.com/WebRoot/StoreES2/Shops/ec1299/4E5E/7CAE/36A3/3044/8D41/AC10/1418/253F/02555g.jpg

Guarro makes very reputed papers of highest quality but aimed to art, not writing purposes. Has this changed, 'cause I would be very interested in trying them if so. Arpapapel makes a similar line but all manual linen paper, but also has a stationery line that is unique.

Best of luck.

I'd certainly be interested in this...never heard of a concept like that before, sounds fun ! I might end up using google translate for anything besides English though :roflmho:

I would like to participate , but it would be in English from me !

I would enjoy translating the other languages with the help of my family.

On holiday in Mallorca, I bought a diary which shows the days of the week in six languages:

Catalan,Basque,Galician,Portuguese,Castillan and English -so this idea would be very entertaining !

Please let me know

John

Hello everyone!

I had forgot about this project until now. I'm going to start it right away! If you think it's OK, I'll start with the spanish members, and then move on to Europe.

How about an order as such?

*Atamantara.

*English John.

*Suggie.

*Hsianloon.

*Cepasaccus.

I hope to get this moving on by next week.

Donasang, You've got a PM.

I'll post it tomorrow morning.

You're welcome to participate! I'm sorry but I have not been able to post the book. By the way, since it's not a Miquelrius, I'd better change the title.

I'm tempted to paticipate...

Could you explaine more about its purpose or goal? What educational purpose will it serve if I (for example) would write 4 pages in Dutch and no one can read what I wrote? Will photo's of the content appear in FPN?

And me, on the other hand can't understand any Catalanic or Hispanique scribbles of my previous participants.

And does one write about something specific? Something cultural?

Please inform me if you can because I am intruiged by the idea. :clap1:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
