Snail Mail Writing List

Titivillus

Recommended Posts

I would love to exchange snail mail with a few people. I love to use beautiful paper and ink, but I rarely have someone to exchange letters with anymore. I started writing little encouraging notes to people in my church just to have an excuse to use my pens!

I am a high school English teacher finishing my master's degree so I can teach some college classes. Besides school, I read, garden (mostly flowers) and raise poultry. I also enjoy music and drama. I am happily married, but my partner in crime is my mother. We go see movies together whenever we can--a little of everything. The most recent was Midnight in Paris, which I liked and she thought was so-so.

Oh! Just because I like to use nice paper and ink doesn't mean that I expect those back in return. If you want to write me some chicken scratches on college ruled Mead that is fine. It's the thought that counts!

I've lived in Texas for the last eleven years, but prior that that I lived a little bit of everywhere: Iowa, California, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Heilbronn Germany, Alsbach Germany.

Well I'll throw my hat in the ring again since my pen pals are dropping like flies. I don't know if I'm just boring, or if people are just too busy.

Anyway, I'm 23, male, and work as an arts administrator at my town's historic opera house. I have a degree in Arts Administration and Theatre and love doing both. I try to read a book a week. I particularly like the classics, mysteries, and historic nonfiction. Other interests include a wide array of music, antiques, animals, architecture, and writing. I'm also in the U.S. if anyone wants to know.

So send me a message if you're interested in corresponding.

I would like some penpals!

I'll be 21 tomorrow, writer/blogger/photographer/soon to be NYU grad with an English major, living in Brooklyn. Have a penchant for long 19th century European literature (have read Anna Karenina--my favorite book--and War and Peace and Of Human Bondage in the past year, +many many others, and working through Bleak House now), as well as edgy modern writers of any and every kind. Love Anais Nin and Edith Warton but I do hate Jane Austen and no one will ever convince me otherwise. Discovered fountain pens in November and have since then developed an obsession. Always had an obsession with writing-wrote my first novel when I was 13 or 14 for NaNoWriMo, and wrote a few more after that, but they are terrible and are just sitting on a shelf somewhere while I angst about when I'll be able to write a true masterpiece. Tend to write stories that are "exquisitely sad." Also I love not at all intellectual girly things--shoes and lingerie and pretty dresses and fresh cut flowers. I once kept a sex blog that people rather liked and have done some pretty debauched things. Nowadays I'm a bit more stable and in love with a boy with severe autoimmune illnesses and a tortured past/life. He also likes fountain pens and worked in hedge funds but we spend much of our time pretending to be various nonsensical objects/characters or playing with our stuffed animals friends (really).

laurayan.com is my website/link to a slew of other websites for a better sense of me/my life/aesthetic. It would be quite nice to write with fellow fp enthusiasts with very different lives. Please PM me!

I'll add my name to the list here. I go by Bryant instead of my first name which is Paul. I live in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba on the Navy base. I'm a contractor here and I work on airplanes for a living. I collect pens and my wife paper. It works out pretty well. I was doing the postcard exchange but we have limited postcards here and they are not very FP ink friendly.

Hey, thought I'd see what would come out of this.

My name's Mark. I recently graduated medical school. I have a few months old daughter and a wife (married for some 3 or so years).

Apart from medicine, I'm interested in:

music, mostly guitar related and Clapton/Hendrix orientated,

I also play guitar, mostly electric, as well as doodle on other instruments,

camping/treking,

bicycling and motorcycling,

chess (and I'd be willing to try a snail mail game of chess...talk about long term commitment, eh?),

photography, lots of photography, and I'd be willing to exchange photographs within these letters,

And I'm sure random subjects will arise here and there.

I'm Canadian born but currently in Eastern Europe. I can't promise beautiful paper from my end ;) I can read Francais, my writing is 'meh'. I can do Polish if you're that interested but my forte is English.

Shoot me a pm if you're interested.

All bleeding stops...eventually

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm in as well. A little about me...

Dropped out of college in 79 to join the US Army. While in the military I traveled through almost half of the USA. Spent some time in Washington State, and a year and a half overseas in Okinawa Japan. While in Japan I became interested in amateur radio and was first licensed there. I also sailed a bit on my time off. Lots of fun sailing the South China Sea. On my return home, after knocking around a few jobs, I went to work for the local police department repairing radios and other electronics. I've since retired and "enjoy the good life."

I would like to join in....

I am 27 years old Mechanical Engineer in Indiana. I am a big sports(Soccer, Basketball, Football) fan and love to get into discussions regarding anything related to sports. I also have plenty of interests in politics and current events. I also have many science related interests like energy, physics, cosmos & space exploration, computers in general, and of course machines. I write almost 100% exclusively in FP and MP. And I have never done this or tried it before; but it sounds like fun... PM me if you are interested.....

Hi, my name is Don. I'm 62 years old, from California, and would like pen pals from anyplace. I've liked fountain pens since I was a kid and have recently become more interested in collecting them. My other interests are: going to hockey, baseball, and football games; hiking; reptiles; listening to music; studying Korean history; reading; solving cryptograms; and going to museums and art galleries. Please send me a message for my postal address.

I'm sort-of nearing retirement and enjoying not living in Manchester any more. Still follow The Reds though, although not literally. Just about got the hang of filling a pen without too much mess. I worked as a photographer and in the industry for many years and just take snaps now for a bit of fun.

I've pretty varied interests and my wife tells me that it's best if I keep some of my views to myself BUT I'll do my best not to offend anyone should you choose to write!!!!

PM with/for address and I'll get the ink defrosting.

Hi all, as you can most likely see, I am new here.

I would love to send and receive snail mail. I have been trying to correspond with some of my other friends, but alas I have struck out.

As far as interests they are many and varied and range from architecture to horses. I am a 35 yr old professional blacksmith. (No I do not shoe horses, that is my farrier's job and he does it well.) I do politely request English speakers only (as with many other Americans I speak only English). But would be happy to receive letters from anywhere. Feel free to PM/e-mail me for my addy and tell me a bit about yourself.

Best,

Jeremiah

Me! Me! I have a bad habit of buying more stationery than I could use in a "normal" lifetime. When I lived in California I was within 10 minutes of a Daiso (the Japanese "dollar"--or more accurately, 100 yen--store) in two directions, and even 18 months after moving to Louisiana, I still have a stockpile.

My real name is Sarah, I'm single, 36, and live in a small town in southern Louisiana. But I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, in a town about midway between San Jose and Oakland. Politically, I am a huge cliche of anyone from that area of the country. So naturally, I sometimes feel like a bit of an oddity in the south. :roflmho: I am the youngest of 4 and I moved here after I got laid off from my last job in CA in order to be closer to my parents--my mother is from here and they semi-retired back here a few years ago. Just in time for Hurricane Rita. :bawl:

I love reading just about anything and split my time between fiction and non-fiction--at the moment I am working my way through Sarah Vowell and Joan Didion. I also love vintage or just quirky cameras (hence my name) and have quite a collections of them. If you're lucky, your letter might include an actual Polaroid! I also do all kinds of needlework, but my favorite is cross stitch. I love riding my bicycle the few days of the year that doesn't have oppressive humidity. I've kept a journal since I was 8.

Keepers of private notebooks are a different breed altogether, lonely and resistant rearrangers of things, anxious malcontents, children afflicted apparently at birth with some presentiment of loss. Joan Didion

I am looking for a couple of Christian pen-friends. I am exploring and learning more all of the time and would like to have the opportunity to share some of my thoughts and experiences. I am returning to my faith after a short period of testing (2 years).

I am a 47 year old married father of three sons. I play mandolin in a bluegrass gospel band. I ride bicycles. I don't really do mail art, just simple correspondence written with a fountain pen. If I type any more information I will not have anything to write about in my introductory letter!

Send me a pm if you might be interested.

Hello

My name is Antoine and I live on a tiny farm with my family near Calgary in Canada. I was born in France some 53 years ago. I enjoy most things that life has to offer (except rap music..if you can call it that).

I am looking for anyone interested in exchanging some letters and talking about anything and everything. I am a very open fellow and can discuss about what ever you want (yes even rap music).

PM me for my address

Hey,

I'm Ashley. I'm a dad to boy/girl twins, have been married for 7 years (this weekend) to a wonderful woman, and am daily learning about the depth of the love of Christ. I really miss getting something other than bills in the mail.

I have a busy life with work (Children's Services for the provincial gov't), play (soccer year-round), kids (2 1/2 yr old twins!), studies (Master's in Psychology...almost complete!), but I'd like to have an excuse to use my pens and ink for something other than notes at work.

Out of respect for my wife, I am looking for male pen-friends only.

P.S. I have an ear (wrist?) for languages, but no way to ever use them, so anything I learn goes out the window. If you feel like teaching me a new language, that would be cool...but not necessary!

I'd like to go beyond writing to myself in journals, fun though that is, and would love to exchange letters with another pen enthusiast. My profile pretty much covers me, but the short form: Electronics engineer in my 30s, into gadgets of all sorts. That extends out to non electronic pens, since the whole nib/feed/ink combination is an interesting mechanism, and candles/candlemaking I guess since it's a similar thing with fluid dynamics but with nicely scented fire instead of writing as the result. With such a natural science background I'm not in a faith, though I'm ethnically Jewish, devotionally Buddhist or Pagan, or Subgenius, but in my heart of hearts a pure materialist.

And, with all the pen, ink, and paper I just bought in the past month, feeling like a bit of a consumerist. So, PM and let me send you some of my paper ;)

Hi All, I love using my pens (won't own one that I can't use). And love getting to know people through the FP written word. I live mostly in Canada, and a bit in Texas.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
