Remake Of The Visconti Skeleton

Bryant

Recommended Posts

[...] How about the following scenario to illuminate the point: would Montblanc consider re-doing their Skeleton 333 in a new material? I think if they did, a fair few people would jump up and down and be concerned about the impact on the original pen and name-call Montblanc (money-grubbing corporate etc) and others would say "fantastic, more 333-type pens and now in (say) red gold, yellow gold, carbon .... Wow, the really know what customers like..."

[...]

I think Montblanc's idea behind very limited editions is the reach of incredible prices, meaning over-the-top exclusivity for their owners, who wouldn't want any peasant being able to buy similar stuff. I mean, take one of their skeleton pens, remove the over-abundant diamonds, and you have a 1000€-2000€ pen.

Of course, they are losing the ability to reach a wider audience, but they imprison themselves in this problem : if they sell less expensive skeleton pens, they aren't the unreachable, highest-end luxury brand anymore. Image is a burden sometimes.

Regarding these Visconti limited editions, they are nicely made (as usual), but I can't say I would buy one. Too "shiny". I purchased a blue ripple this summer, and it's everything I'm looking for when buying a Visconti pen (well except for the double reservoir. This filling system wasn't the best invention, in my opinion).

I don't see a real issue in regard to the Skelton from Visconti. Bryant's versions, frankly are only vaguely similar in terms of platform. Everything in terms of components is much richer. I get the point and think the argument is more valid in terms of some of the Omas Paragon re-issues. I just see Bryant's skeletons as really substantially different and more elegant.

The Alutec makes for a nice looking overlay! And the matching silver box is a nice touch.

Is that an ecoroller, a rollerball that can be refilled from a bottle?

Are the inkwells going to be bundled with the pens or sold separately?

That is an eco roller, I think I had one made in each trim? I dont remember how many, but one or two I think... A few more with the Alutec because there are more pens there.

The inkwells will be sold separately as well as with the pens. They will be numbered, so first dibs will go to pen buyers, but there could be some people who dont want the inkwells Im sure, so there will be some for sale.

Actually, no I retract that. I forgot, we did Rollerballs not ecos. Sorry :( I was thinking another brand I did a special with and did a power filler with roller point.

Oh no! This will most likely be the most popular one when it comes out. We are still doing 4 versions. But only got pics of this one. Pics to come next week... I hope! bunny01.gif

Pardon my persistence, but the numbers don't add up.

4 versions:

Shiny silver

Alutec

Gold vermeil

Carbon fiber

Is the ruthenium plated sterling a 5th version, or is that what you refer to as the shiny silver......

As always I love your elegant and modern creations.

Oops long day of traveling and I misread your message. And maybe somewhere I wrote Ruthenium instead of Rhodium. But the Sterling Silver version will be Rhodium plated, not Ruthenium (black) plated. Although a cool idea, I think we would not do the carbon fiber version if we did that.

Sorry about the confusion.

Bry

Given the lack of response we have either lost some members or they have just fainted behind their screens.

Great piece of work, Bry! thumbup.gif

Fainted, more likely! :yikes:

I've deliberately held back with a response. Had I replied right away, I might have made an idiot out of myself

These are just beautiful :clap1:

Can't wait..... :puddle:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
