I don't mean to be monotonous, but I can't offer much variety in inks or pens -- just words and images.

So, I got busy last night... and came up with 3 entries...

Here's the first! I used two pens: a Lamy Safari 1.5mm inked with Diamine Pumpkin, and a Franklin-Christoph Eclipse medium stub inked with Diamine Meadow.

I'm afraid my camera isn't the sharpest, so the first word, "dum" looks a little blurred in the photo below.

I'll post my other entries later tonight. :)

Amazing!

Thank you! :)

Here's my next post! I don't know if you'd consider this quote inspirational, but it is to me... It encourages me to practice calligraphy more often. Background story: Craig Thompson is a comic book artist I have always admired. I heard him give a talk last year, and that was when I heard him say that calligraphy is music for the eyes. I had a short chat with him afterwards - he's a really great guy!

I used Gothic script here; it's quite difficult for me to get the letters right, as it always turns out oddly-proportioned. Doesn't make it any less fun for me to try, though! :)

Pen & Ink: Lamy Safari 1.5mm inked with Diamine Pumpkin. The author's name was written with a Noodler's Ahab inked with Diamine Oxblood.

I am a huge fan of Calvin and Hobbes, so this was one of the first quotes to come to mind when I thought of inspirational quotes.

For this, I used a Pilot Parallel 6.0mm inked with Diamine Rustic Brown. And I used a pencil for the sketch because I make mistakes... the eraser came in handy quite a few times. :P

I may do another entry, but then that will be it from me. I would rather see YOUR work. ;) I just hope my entries were enough to inspire some of you to pick up your pens and make a contribution!

Hi All,

First post here. I found an oldish Sheaffer pen a few days ago, got some cartridges and have been hooked. Here is my attempt at "fancy writing" with an artistic slant?

Let me know what you think!

Did you do the journal in the background? It's amazingly detailed!

Hi nightwing,

Yes, that is one of my travel journals. And thank you for your kind complement. If you'd care to see more pages from that one you can find them posted here:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
