Okay, does anybody here have a Pelikan blue demo M600? How is it? Is it worth yearning after like it looks like I am destined to do?

I have one. It is not one of my favorite pens but, being a Pelikan M600, it is of course a very good pen.

I was a little disappointed when I saw that the blue transparent plastic is so dark that the inner workings of the pen are very difficult to see, somewhat defeating the purpose of a demonstrator. OTOH, you cannot easily see ink stains, a typical problem with other demonstrators.

Compared to the M800s I normally use, it feels a little small (I have large hands) and very light, but many would consider this a good thing.

Not sure why I got it (at least I paid much less for a new set than the price in the link above ;)).

I think the blue 600 demonstrator looks a lot like the M200 in blue transparent. :o Just a whole lot different in price. You could actually put a gold nib on the M200 for a lot less. I have the blue transparent, have seen the green too, and am just not wild about them.

The M600 is significantly larger than the M200, actually.

0.7 centimetre longer and 0.7millimetere thicker...Not a big difference, I would say.......

I was just joking around that the M200 was basically the same pen, only slightly smaller. Not a lot smaller, as Maja pointed out. I *have* the blue transparent M200, and it looks exactly like the pic of the 600 except for size. IMO, just not worth the extra cost. For a similar price one could find a Cities Series 620, or even a blue stripe 600, which is also a very nice clean looking pen.

...and I was rather surprised how similar the M200 and M600 were in size, when I was searching for their specs online. I think the M200 is a great pen and a great value for the money. :)

As far as I know, they're discontinuing it in light of the possible conflict with the blue M215 that they introduced earlier this year. Prices have not risen yet for either the blue marble or blue transparent, but they might later on.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
