Pelikan Aficionados,

I'm curious to see how many M800s & M1000s you own. Currently I own:

  • 3-M800s (Black/silver, Blue stripe/silver, Green stripe/gold) plus 3 extra nibs to interchange on the pens
  • 2-M1000s (Black/gold, Green stripe/gold) plus 3 extra nibs to interchange on the pens

i know there has to be someone in the group that can beat 5, so let's see how the obsession plays out in the end! roflmho.gif

Regards,

Mike

Just the one, an M1050. I'd like an M1005 demonstrator but I have a lot of other pen priorities too (thinking of picking up a white tortoise M600).

I agree, an M1000 with blue stripes and silver trim would be perfect! puddle.gif

But I will be buying the M800 Brown Tortoise when it comes out.

If it is even for sale in your country because I think it must be a somehow limited edition and not for sale everywhere

Rumour has it that it will carry a RRP of ~£500+ GBP. If and when.

Not being available in my country is not a hurdle for me :). It may even become available. Who knows, after all India is a very important market for all these brands.

I think Pelikan like any of the big firms target countries where people have high income and where buying luxury pens isn't an issue. They also select stores whith which they have a long history of selling their pens. Maybe Bryant or Mottishaw will be able to have some, but the run will be very limited.

I don't know about that. I bought the last special edition M101N, it was available online in Germany and China from authorised resellers much before it appeared in the high ticket stores you mention. Pelikan is not very tight in marketing unlike Mb which has a much tighter grip on its retail channels.

I know already who i will be buying my M800 tortoise from, if pelikan decides to release it after all.

I have a black M1000 with a F nib, a M900 Toledo in M, and a M900 Concerto in B.

I don't have a big appeal for the other models. The recent limited edition with multicolour stripes was very beautiful, but 3000€ is far too expensive for a pen.

I know that Pelikan is less tighter than MB in terms of marketing. Good luck on finding the m800 you want

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
