Hi,

The Pilot Del Ful is a fairly recent addition to Pilot's line up. It's not available in the states. I got mine from Ujuku. Here is my written review of this particularly interesting pencil

The pencil together with a Pilot Symmetry, a shaker pencil and a Pilot H3003, an older double-knock pencil. It combines both worlds

On the Pilot site, there has be a bit of a revival of the double-knock mechanism. I see at least one other double knock pencil, the Automac. This one however, the Del Ful, is quite an incredible value at only 500¥ a piece. The mechanism is exactly as you would expect from a Pilot, smooth and extremely precise just like the Pilot Capless and H3003. It's definitely a fascinating piece and quite a good pencil to get. I highly recommend it for those days you want a pencil instead of a pen. Another thing of note is that it, like other Pilot pencils, tend to be built in such a way that the lead does not break when the pencil is dropped.

That's really cool.

Very good, very thorough review, too. I wonder if the push button is turning a little cam that makes the tip go in or out.

I love that 03 up there - really great looking pencil. Are those available anywhere?

Hi,

The push button is connected to a mechanism very similar to that in the Pilot Capless. The mechanism stays in the top of the barrel when the barrel is unscrewed. Yes, there is a cam in there.

As for the other pencil, the H3003, I hear that they sometimes come up on ebay. They are quite neat.

Whatever floats your boat! If that doesn't look so nice to you, there are lots of neat other pencils out there. You have to love the variety!

Sounds like a great mechanical pencil. If only I could get over the colour schemes...

very nice Posted Image. pilot is very good in their designs. i have one (an old one) mechanical pencil where if you shake it, it'll push the lead out without you having to press the end button of the pencil. and it's very light weight as well.
