Somewhere I apparently suggested that Robyn and I would be leaving on Saturday. Not so! Our plans are to stay through to the end of the show on Sunday.

So when people go, do they wear a FPN emblem on their shirt? Or their FPN nickname on a name tag? :eureka:

Heh, I know, that would be a bit dorky. ;)

I'll be walking around with a stainless steel Pilot attached to my shirt. IF I am able to make it (the chaos imps are working hard on me these days).

So if you're wondering, I was the (bleep) in the white coat and white hat on Friday afternoon [12-ish] and Saturday [12:30-2ish]. I may go back tomorrow, if my checkbook will let me. Here's the damage so far.

From Richard Binder's table:

broad nib for my clear Pelikan M200

Pelikan Grand Place [eep!]

@Pendemonium:

Aurora Blue ink

converter for Parker Vector [see below]

Bertram's Inkwell:

1 Parker Vector for myself [first fountain pen I ever owned, at age 9] and 2 additional ones that I may give to my sister's children, if it's okay with her. My niece has wanted to write with my fountain pens for a few years now but I was hesitant because she was so young. She's turning 5 next month and my nephew is 6+ so I think they can handle a cheapie like the Vectors.

Susan Wirth's table:

translucent green Pelikan M200 with fine italic nib. Now I just need to find the red and grey Pelikan demos and my mini-collection will be complete :D

I thought about buying a Namiki Vanishing Point but after playing with a few, I was too unsure about how I'd like that clip hitting my fingers.

Sometimes I write things (as of 2013

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
