I'm green with envy! Dante is my favorite writer! Gorgeous pen!

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

When I clicked at the topic I was expecting something along the lines of the Montegrappa Chaos and was pleasantly surprised. This is a good-looking pen, nothing that knocks me off my feet, but quite nice.

One of the few pens with gold trim that I would like to own....

The pen is mightier than the sword, and I wield an extrafine point...... En garde!! :-)

I lost a chance to get the beautiful green Dante Alighieri last time, but get the rose gold trimmed black Dante Inferno. The metal parts of the Dante Inferno is brass not the same as the Dante Alighieri that is sterling silver .The mark of sterling silver is to be changed to an Italian flag. The Dante is a classical pen with a twist, that is black lacquer with rose gold trim instead of yellow gold, furthermore adding the red ring on the end. You can see some tiny black spots on the red lacquer ring, I think this is because the black lacquer is the base. When I received the Dante, there were already many tiny scratches on the lacquered barrel. The lacquer on the MB WE Swift looks like heavier and the Dupont's Chinese lacquer is more resistant to scratch. But overall the Dante has a solid feel and can be a reliable workhorse. The B nib writes wet with the feedback. The passion of Italian pens is unbeatable.

***Hope it's not a problem reviving this post?**

Very Nice. This is probably top of my list now (after Bry helped me with something else)!

Is it possible to distinguish between the Lacquer and Resin editions of the Dante Inferno?

Er, just puzzled why Rodin's "Thinker" is representing a 14th century poem on the pen box...

The pen, however, looks quite lovely!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
