I dont have much information on it, but wanted to at least share pictures. It will be a limited edition, basically a re-make of original Dante. No limitation or MSRP yet. Just some raw pictures...

So, not much info, but here you go!

Original Dante was lacquered, not resin. It's a somewhat heavy pen because of that -- lacquer is over brass I believe.

I wonder if this new Inferno is lacquered as well. If it's lacquered I think I'll pass, I'll wait for the Mar Ionio. :D

Some of the pens you mentioned aren't in the photo, e.g. Palladio, Nobile, etc; but some are, e.g. Colombo e Da Vinci. The one's in photo are mostly overlays with exception of the lacquered Dante.

The pens in the picture are CP3 Goldoni XANTEN 70° 75° 80° Verdi and Dante.

The new one looks like a laquered one. The green is not like the deep green on the Optimas.

You're right, I got seriously confused, e.g. Colombo with Goldoni and Da Vinci with Dante. Seriously Italian name confusion this morning.

The Dante green is lacquered, I've held it in my hands. Which green Optima do you have mind? The green resin or the Auroloides? The Auroloide mix has changed over the years, so that green has gotten much lighter or the years. Green resin is out of production. I've never compared a green resin Optima to the Dante.

I mean the green resin one. Its color looks almost the same in the catalogue. But the light reflection on the barrel is different in the real photo .

Very "pretty", but looking at the furniture it must cost a pretty penny, so it will probably never reach my collection.

Where I find the furniture on the Visconti Diamond Jubilee over the top, this is just beautiful.

Hmmm. Lacquer would make the weight tempting. But need to see Bry-style pics to be really sure. :hmm1:

Price is ALWAYS an object and Bry knows my budget well  I've also waited 10 years for my chance to get a pen I wanted [like my Tertio]. :crybaby:

The original Dante is a relativity heavy one comparing to other AURORA LEs. Wonder how thick the lacquer is, but I think I won't have a chance to know till I accidentally drop the pen on the ground.

And what's Tertio? Tertio Millennio Adveniente?

Yes. I call it Tertio for short. B) Really nice B nib and I enjoy the weight of it. Got that one from BarrieP actually, but Bry's been my pusher for close to 30 pens now and delivered a lot of "grail" at prices I could mostly afford.

Again the lacquer on the pen is on top of metal, which If I remember correctly is brass. That is most likely what gives the Dante its added weight, not the lacquer per se.

nothing extraordinary, just another aurora with a horrible stiff nib.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Your a priori knowledge never ceases to amaze me.

Even if it were stiff, some don't have a problem with it, for instance where thin line widths matter. Current modern semi-flex and flex is mediocre and over-rated anyway.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
