Hello! I live in Brisbane as well and would love to catch up sometime to chat. Preferably out of work hours if possible :)

I would be keen also. Twoodi are you around?

What little beauty did you take home?

Sorry for the late reply but I haven't been to this forum for a while

I bought an Aurora Talentum in Rubberised Black & Chrome - I had to limited myself to $250.

I'm new to FPN.  This is a good idea, did it get any legs?  Is there a group meeting in Brisbane.  I'm from Beaudesert but prepared to pop into Brisbane for meetings.  My interest is in restoring vintage pens and always appreciate the challenge.  Happy to help and teach others while learning more about networks and connections locally.

cheers . .

Danny

Hi there!

I know this is a bit of an older thread but wanted to see if I could resurrect it!

I'm new to both FPN and collecting fountain pens and would love it if I could find a Brisbane-based group, or alternatively, people interested in starting a Brissie group.

Any thoughts from the Brisbanites out there?

Look forward to hearing from you all soon,

Mike  :D

Sadly, nothing has eventuated. We need a leader to organise an inaugural meeting.

It's disappointing that pen people are limited in Brisbane. I also live on the Brisbane northside, and would love to have some sort of pen group, or even a pen show. I do realise how old this post is.. but seeing as nothing ever eventuated, maybe we could try something again? It would be great to have a group of people we could chat about pens, and even trade them, because as you know, there are really only two pen shops in Brisbane. (The Pen Shoppe, and Pen and Paper). What do you think? Should we give it another go?

Hi all

Another Brisbanite here. What are your favourite pens? I just scored a lovely blue marbled Parker Duofold international. Using it with J Herbin's Eclat de Saphir. Delish!

They weren't joking when they said maybe one in 150 Australians use FP ('they' refers to the Melbourne Pen Show group, statistics that I have no idea about its validity), years have gone by and we're still on the second page!

My favourite pen has got to be the Sailor Chalana, slim and very modern looking, but lately my eyes have been set on the Yard-O-Leds, heard great things about the nib and the overall presentation looks stunning.

BUMP (!)

Sydney boy here but happy for a good excuse to visit Brissy.

Proud to have infected at least 6 colleagues with the Fountain Pen virus in 2015 so as to ramp up the user stats and planning to inoculate many more in 2016.

Dave :)

There is an Australian pen group on Facebook, many of whom are FPN members, that do meet in Brisbane regularly so that may be worth checking out. No affiliation, just keen to spread the ink in Australia.

I belong to the Brisbane Facebook group and we've met a few times in the city on a Saturday. Dangerous for the wallet, but such fun!

Catchwords,

Would you be willing to post the details of the next Saturday meeting on this thread, please?

Not the Facebook link, just the details?

That may unearth a few interested parties & get the ball rolling.

Like me, in case you're looking for a fountain pen group in Brisbane then join this group on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/fpaus/).

I went to my first meeting last month and thoroughly enjoyed it.  It was a comfortable size, allowing me to speak with almost everyone there.  It will take me awhile to remember there names. :)

It was such a nice atmosphere, nice to know there are so many people who are just interested in helping you learn more about their passion.  I came away with my heading spinning, now knowing how to avoid some serious mistakes and great tips that will make my interest so much more enjoyable.

To top it off, the pen collections that people bought along and encouraged me to try; pens that I didn't believe I would ever hold or use.  I came away with a lovely Pelikan BB nib and a sample of KWZ ink (Grapefruit).

I will be sure to go to the next one!

Hi I rarely check in here. It's probably easier for everyone to join the Fountain Pens Australia FB group. Really nice bunch. Except they are hardcore enablers. You'll discover a whole lot of new pens and ink that you 'need'. Lol.

Not everybody is willing to register & submit to the commercialism of Facebook.

Surely FPN is the best venue & focus for news of meetings planned for Brisbane. Please, is someone - anyone - willing to post details of upcoming meetings?
