"New" Stipula 22

I’m interested in the new Stipula 22, but, alas, there is not a pen store for hundreds of miles.

Has anyone tried the “New 22”? How does the metal nib section feel? Is the pen balanced? How does it write? Is the nib stiff or springy?

I bought a used one from a friend of mine a few months ago. I was expecting major issues as did the first one. Well suprisingly, that was not the case!! It is a solid writer and has great flow. There is no titainum anywhere on this pen, so the name 22 or Ventidue carries no meaning with this pen. The major difference between this new pen and the old one are that it performs flawlessly, has no titainum, it uses 14kt rhodium plated nib and it has a Metal section. This accounts for some of the excess weight. I am not a fan of Metal sections but I bought this pen at a super cheap price, so I couldnt pass it up. Overall, it is a great writer if you can get it new for under 150.00 USD. Used under 120.00 would be ideal!!!

You can mail order it new for $160, I don't recall where but just Google Stipula 22.

I dip tested one and loved it. Great balance, smooth nib, and it's a much prettier pen than the photos.

Isn't sanity really a one-trick pony, anyway? I mean, all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy . . . ooh hoo hoo hoo! . . . the sky's the limit!

Thanks Noble Savage. You and sonia answered my questions. I want to try a pen with a metal section and also want to try a Stipula, so the New 22 seems like a good, (relatively) inexpensive way to kill two birds with one stone, as they say. I also like the large-capacity piston filler.

For its size, both the old and new 22's have an ink capacity that rivals pens 2 times the size. The ink capacity is one of the largest ones out there without going to an eyedropper filler!!!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
