Perfect Pencil question

First of all, happy new year to all :)

Recently I saw a Faber-Castell Pencil which is basically a pencil extender and has a sharpener built into the extender. The version I saw had a green plastic extender. After search for it on the web I found that this is the Faber-Castell Perfect Pencil. I can easily find an expensive version (silver? platinum? at $250  ) and an aluminum one at around $40. I can not find the green one. Does anyone know of a source for this? Price? Compaibility with other pencils?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Nenad, may be I did not make clear enough what I am looking for. It is not a mechanical pencil.

Here is the aluminum version of it: http://www.pencity.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.ex...8365+1167782500. I am looking for the equivalent plastic one.

I bought my green plastic Perfect Pencil from Wet Paint Art (www.wetpaintart.com). They have a brick-and-mortar store at 1684 Grand Avenue, St. Paul MN 55105. (651) 698-6431. Email to info@wetpaintart.com

I think I paid $10 each for the Perfect Pencils. I don't see them in their Holiday Catalog, but they did have them. I'd call the store and ask if they have any in stock. They were also selling the UFO (the aluminum version) for $34.00.

Finding replacement green FC9000 pencils in the US is impossible if you want the pre-shortened ones with erasers. I had information about a place that was allegedly selling them, but they only had an email address and they never answered my inquiry. My solution is to buy dark green Mongol pencils from Pencil Things (www.pencilthings.com). These are great pencils (ok, not as great as the FC 9000, but they aren't $9 apiece, either, which is what custom-shortened FC 9000s with erasers go for at various places on the Web). Pencil Things has them made in the Phillipines with replaceable erasers (don't know about you, but my eraser is gone long before the pencil is used up). A dozen of them sell for $3.80 plus s&h. If you want to stand out, you can use orange or blue Palomino pencils (the equal of the FC9000 imo); $6.95 for 6 with erasers.

Probably more information than you were looking for, but I hope it helps.

Hi Antonios!

I used to sell the Perfect Pencil and I believe have a couple of the green ones stashed away somewhere. I' have to search for it, but will give you a shout if and when I find it.

Happy New Year!

Thanks all for the hints.

Ron sent me late last night this link:

http://www.shopatron.com/product/product_i...KFC119037/228.0

which has them for $10 and replacements at $6 for 3, so I ordered them.

It is a neat pencil, and hopefully a cure for the decease that my kids pencil sharpeners have to be always away from their pencils (when they do their homework specifically).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
