I had not seen those; thanks!

Thursday and Friday offer an often delightful and more calm opportunity to truly interact with and learn from many on site experts, usually only known to one by name via forums and literature, about their collections; there is a real opportunity to get to know who is who in the field and to learn how to differentiate often subtle differences in versions of writing instruments from multiple manufacturers which have evolved over many years; seasoned folks at pen shows find great satisfaction in sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm with new folks to promote the continued interest in beautiful writing, communication arts, functional maintenance of vintage writing instruments, in addition to exposure to new pen designs. It is a real "high" to bring a frustrating, poorly functioning pen to one of the available nibmeisters at a show, watch them diagnose its functional problem, intervene and give you an opportunity to discover how different your pen can write. Thursday and Friday are great days for making friends and just enjoying the weekend traders who often set out some of the most interesting wares and really enjoy sharing their finds with you. Saturday and Sunday bring special aspects, too; the frenzy of activity throughout the rooms is hypnotic; however, the calm and depth of interaction achieved via the previous two days truly can result in evaluating the entire show as a truly positive experience. Whatever you are able to do, enjoy your experience and keep attending.

Is Ron Zorn doing his workshop in Vac-Fil repair this year, anybody know? Workshops are not posted yet on the show's web page.

Will attend. Already ordered my weekend trader access. Will be there Thursday through Saturday evening. Would be happy to meet up with any and all FPNers.

I think animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

I plan on attending. Last year was a definite eye opener :)

I'm going by myself for the first time, and I'm staying in the hotel. So please, if you see me, come talk to me! I'll be wearing a name tag that says "saskia_madding, FPN", and I'll be girl looking super lonely and overwhelmed. :roflmho:

Hi all,

Werner of CONID and myself were planning to come......

However given the FPR series of 60 L.E demonstrators is nearly sold, we would have not much to show.

And the next series of delrin flattops and streamline Bulkfillers will only be ready in October.

We will surely be there next year!

Wishing you all a fruitfull and enjoyable DC Supershow !

Francis

We will be there. We are looking forward to it with great anticipation. I have been disappointed ever since we met Kevin probably six years ago and he never returned to another show. Now John's not coming. What next? :crybaby:

To be fair, a number of the East Coast based pen people do not make it out to LA. Richard and Ron Z. don't make it out to LA. Mike M. does not make it out to LA although he did come to SF last last year.

For Kevin, the trip is too much of a pain. I spoke to him about it and travel with his pens (at their value) to D.C. is too much of a hassle. He is first and foremost a doctor and a dad and those things come first.

As for Jon M., he'll go to the East Coast shows if it works out. He does not make it every year. He went to London show last year as I recall.

If you want to see Nakayas and Danitrios, come to the LA show.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
