Not a new color but some cool Safari ephemera.

(This is one of the most complete threads about the SAFARI. t

That's why I thought this picture should not miss here.)

Being new to collecting LAMY Safari pens, I have enjoyed reading and learning from this thread.

Thank you all who have contributed.

Edited to add photo of my current ABS collection:

While talking about the Safari, I just got this nice sticker in my mailbox:

The sticker was part of a advertising campaign. The owner of the sticker got a Lamy T-shirt for free, when the number of the back of his sticker was shown at the shop window of a pen shop...

...probably back in the 80's.

Hello Christof,

It's taken me a while to find your Lamy Safari sticker post just to check whether yours is the same as mine (apologies for the protective sleeve - hopefully the photo is reasonably clear enough). I've not seen any others but perhaps you have? I'll repost this also in the Safari thread started by Haywoody. Mine also has a number but it's on the front. Nothing on the back of mine.

Happy collecting!

Best wishes,

Chris

I know the current White Safari has a grey (white?) o-ring and a chrome clip. Did the White ever come with a grey (white?) o-ring and black clip or did the black clip always have a black o-ring?

My Alpen, (shine not matte), is black/black. I didn't think to ask when discussing the matte Alpen in the past. Otherwise, I only see black o-rings on all but the current white.

While on the subject, the Lamy Joy set I have is black. The white set has what furniture ???

When they initially came out there were Savanna Green and

Terracotta Orange. Has anyone mentioned gray (whitish one, not charcoal)?

For Al-Star there was a limited color called "Blue Star". It was sold only in Itoya in Japan.

Oh man... that blue

Sadly not - a red o-ring would look great though! I'm thinking the charcoal with red clip; add a red o-ring and that would really make it shine :)

Nattae - congratulations on a full set of those stunning pens!!! Are they 1st or 2nd Gen?

(I was going to say "congratulations - they're beautiful" but then realised that could sound equally appropriate for a photo of someone's kids!)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
