Item #1, $92.00

(For funzies guess only.)

Bruce in Ocala, FL

Wow. $44.50, someone stole that pen, I KNEW *I* should have bid on it. That's a last model Mark III with a gold filled cap that sold for the low end of what the usual 51 with a Lustraloy cap would go for. In the past 5 weeks, 4 similar pens went from $90-100. The cheapest nice Mark III I saw was around $82 shipped. Again, someone stole this one.

It just goes to show you, like American football, "On any given day (on Ebay) anyone can win"

Bruce in Ocala, FL-who can still pull out of this spin, trust me

:yikes: I didn't bid because I figured it was going to go 3 digits... Someone is Sumgai today! (blue is my favorite color too!)

Not to mention being a spanking good illustration of why I didn't want to one guess only it...

On any given day, anything can sell for any amount on The Bay...

Ok lemme noodle this out. :P

*I think the Sheaffer Statesman from Jim and Sharon will close for real at 52.00.* But, I'm 47.50 Too High on my first guess. So, (glancing at toes) and carry the 8, ok, my official second guess for; Item #2, 4.50.

[EDIT; Ok, that gets me $13 away from the current two pen total...]

Ok, there is one certainty.

If you add Item 1, 44.50, Item #2, 39 and the current bid of $26 (which is "guaranteed") you get $109.50. That means that our 3 lowest guessers out of 17 are mathematically out of the running. :(

I would lay my bets on AmateurAficionado at 131.31, Pakmanpony at 137.50 or Terminal at $145 but that's just me.

THAT'S what happens when you get distracted while Fleabay stuff is happnin' If I had gotten my last guess in, I would have been over the $124 total Correct Answer. (44.50+39+40.50) All 3 pens closed for less than I thought, 2 of the 3 for dramatically less than recent similar pens.

It looks like our winner is RavenLunatic at $103.00 unless I missed something.

Thank you GClef for a great time!

Thanks Ocala, and Gclef, I guess the time wasted watching the price is right in my youth finally paid off. PM was sent. It was a tough choice. I am a total chocoholic, but remembering my Scriptures, "the pleasures of the flesh last but a season..." the pen would be a reminder of the contest for a lot longer. So I chose the lovely Sheaffer Cadet. Looking forward the the next game.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
