I doubt have a problem with them. The above one is classic looking, sleek and non-offensive.

My favourite Duofold though is the white and black pearl one. Ive always wanted once the early 1990s.

If you don't like the converters, aren't Aurora carts the same size as Parker? That'll give you a few more choices.

Also, Goodguy did a modern Duofold review here last year.

ps -- I love my International. Bought NOS at the Baltimore Show just last March.

There's quite a few posted review for Modern Duofolds, but my personal issue is the idea of a C/C for it. I love my C/C pens, but especially when replicating a vintage pen and pricing it at that level, you should go with a more...substantial filler?

Just my take.

I've owned lots of pens. The only 2 modern pens I would not sell are my Duofold and my Aurora 88 Piston. What I like about the Duofold is its super hard, scratch free finish. I like to fine tune my nibs, and the Parker nib is very easy to adjust.

Yes, Aurora and Parker cartridges are interchangeable (and very good).

I bought new Centennial with a medium italic nib (#94) in 1990. It's a sweet writing pen, though I wish the converter held more ink. (With an F or EF nib, this would not be a problem.) It's definitely on my keeper list, along with a Nakaya and an Aurora 88.

The liberty of the press is indeed essential to the nature of a free state; but this consists in laying no previous restraints upon publications, and not in freedom from censure for criminal matter when published. Every freeman has an undoubted right to lay what sentiments he pleases before the public; to forbid this, is to destroy the freedom of the press; but if he publishes what is improper, mischievous or illegal, he must take the consequence of his own temerity. I guess that a vintage squeeze filler adapter will fit the modern duofold if you do not like the modern parker converter.

I would suggest you refill Parker/Aurora cartridges - more capacity and they feed really well. Just get a 5cc seringe from your doctor with a really coarse needle. I cut off the sharp tip with a Dremel tool. Filling a cartrige is just as fast and less messy than plunging the nib into a bottle of ink.

Have one which had the cap broken, after they changed the cap, they exchanged my nib without asking and they charged me of 60€ for a better nib I paid despite a so called lifetime warranty back in 2002.I dislike the modern duofold, I will rather get another vintage duofold than a new one.My vintage flat tops write much better than this pen.

They are a "good" pen to my taste, not a "great" pen.

It would be the least likely expensive pen that thieves would think to take with them for resale value.

That's right, not every thief is also an expert...

All of my modern Duofolds write very well, are super-reliable and I like their clear and classic lines.

I rediscovered it in a pile of pens a few years ago, forgot I even owned it; didn't recognize what it was or recall the precise details of where and what I spent on it.

Sparked it up and it wrote very well and then I found out what it was and what it sells for.

Well.....

My International Duofold from around '92 is the best made pen I own. It's plastic body feels superior to precious resin and other pen plastics. It's a pity they're not being made in England anymore.

I'd prefer that it was a self filler, but what about the boutique brands that also charge $250 for a CC pen?

It's a good pen, but, as others have said, it's kind of expensive for what it is. It is very pretty, however...

I've never heard anything bad about them, but.... Yeah, they sure do seem pricey compared with some of the many other excellent options we have these days. For example, compare with a similar Bexley, or with one of the production line Edisons.

For that matter, you could get a custom-made Edison to your specs in the same price ballpark as a Duofold -- or considerably cheaper if you are OK with a steel nib (and I like those steel nibs).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
