Carlo Collodi Price

Ok I had a chance to stop at the MB dealer over there to pickup a two-pen case (reference #14311 - MSRP $165, got it for $139) and asked how much they would sell me the Collodi for.

MSRP is $1,165.00 (CAD). I can get it for $965.00 (plus taxes, 13%).

Not as great of a deal as the Faulkner/Schiller I got a couple weeks back (posted as 'Maybe best Montblanc deal ever') but still decent, with $200 off MSRP.

If anyone is interested I can arrange for it.

Hey CR,

That's very kind of you and I am sure that one of our Canadian members will take you up on it (I would certainly have if I had not already bought mine before Christmas - at full price).

Do you know whether your dealer is expecting any of the new Joseph POA FPs? I would love to pick one up at any sort of discount. I am in the Toronto area but would be happy to purchase anywhere in Canada and arrange for courier pick up. My workplace has offices in Toronto, vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, Kitchener, Hamilton ad Montreal.

Many thanks, in advance, to anyone that may have a lead on Canadian ADs willing to discount the LE stuff.

Well I know they have one POA there. Not sure which one but it is an older model. The new Joseph I can certainly order from them and I am confident I would get at least 15% off, easily.

If yiu are interested let me know. Whatever they sell I can get very decent discounts.

With all the money I spent with them over the years they do treat me well!

That is very kind of you. I would definitely be interested in ordering the Joseph and would also be curious as to what POA they might have in stock. Shoot me an email at your convenience (ash.gupta@gowlings.com). Thanks again.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
