Lamy 2000 With Loose Filler Knob

Recommended Posts

I just got my new Lamy 2000 in the mail from Stylo, my pen store of choice. It's an EF and I'm using Noodler's Heart of Darkness. It writes very wet and smooth. I think I'm going to love it.

However, when filling my pen, I noticed that the filler knob remains loose when closed. It doesn't tighten down, but instead retains about a full turn of play before you feel the tightness of the piston beginning to move. Just touching it causes it to move, which I find irritating.

Has anyone else had this problem?

It is not normal, pls talk to your dealer and arrange for a replacement. If the knob is not closing in fully snug, perhaps it indicates improper re-assembly or a slip in the factory assembly QA.

I've got a brand new one and a slightly older one, both tighten completely with no slack, I'd speak to the dealer.

Thanks for the info. That's what I suspected. I'm very sad to have to return my new pen... I'm liking using it!

Unfortunately, the 2000 I ordered arrived with the same problem. The knob would not tighten down, spun easily, and rotated the clip when posted. I mailed the pen to Filofax and am awaiting its return. Not a good first impression of a pen that is so highly regarded.

I have the Makralon and the Black Amber versions. Both have loose knobs. I am wondering if anyone knows whats wrong and if there is a fix. I rather not send mine away.

With 50 pens and 3.7L of ink i think i should have stopped buying stuff a while ago....... I better learn to write :lticaptd:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
