Here is a short review of my "new" Parker "51" Special in Burgundy, with Diamine Syrah ink. The paper used was Staples Sustainable Earth.

Enjoy! :)

Nice review, and quite an excellent-looking pen!

You didn't have to do much major maintenance at all?

I bought 2 "51" Specials before I had done my homework on what made them different from "standard" "51"s. Although I now am collecting "51" vacs I am pleased to have these pens in my collection. They seem to write very well indeed.

Nope, hardly any maintenance at all. I just flushed it with water a few times and filled it with ink. There were traces of blue ink in the pen, which I'm wondering may have been Quink Washable Blue, judging by how the sac was perfectly clear. It has a few scratches from being posted, and a small ding on the cap, but is in otherwise excellent shape.

Can't go wrong with 51s, they were made to last generations. Thanks for the review
Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
