Are These New Pilot/namiki Decimo Colors For Real?

I was recently browsing eBay looking to possibly get a fountain pen as a gift for my mentor (he regularly uses a couple of Vanishing Points), when I came upon some new Pilot decimo colors.

Being unfamiliar with the seller, I was wondering if anyone knew if these new decimo colors were legitimate? And if so, where else online I could possibly buy them from [i'd love to have a black one, though that red one is also quite nice]?

Here's the link to the item for reference: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pilot-NAMIKI-Capless-decimo-F-nib-R-Red-fountain-pen-Rhodium-/130659761435?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e6bedbd1b#ht_6639wt_648

I actually like everything but the black... black is so... well already available.

Though, I was looking and something seems off about the clip.

Jetpens.com is a reputable seller. Here is a link from their webpage.

Yes, they are legitimate. Just head over to the reviews section, someone has already done a review on the purple one.

yup. My violet Decimo arrived two days ago! Ordered mine from pisuke2005 (who you linked to) on ebay. You could also get from engeika on ebay.

That's so weird, I checked the reviews section first, but could only find reviews of the old color (the latest from 2010). I might have to search more closely.

Awesome, good to know. I guess this means I'll have to wait until they put a black one on sale (this'll probably be for me; I'm still thinking of other things to get my mentor).

Here's my review of the violet one. In hindsight, I may have gone with the red instead. The black, if it's anything like my metal Elabo, would be a smooth gloss black that scratches easily. I keep my Elabo at home because I got the black instead of one of the textured colors that conceals scratches.

Thanks for your review! I didn't consider the "scratch-ibility" of the black one. I actually have a "sparkly red" Decimo (I think it was a special edition thing a couple years back), so I wonder how this new red color compares. I'm not looking to buy for myself in the immediate future so I guess I'll keep an eye out for more pictures and hopefully more reviews showing what the new colors look like in real life.

All the decimos I have seen have a sparkly finish to them. I wonder if the black is sparkly too?

The metal Elabo comes in a few colors, and all of them are a similar kind of finish, except for the black as I mentioned above. I suspect the Decimo is the same way, though I have not yet seen one.

Correct. The black is the plain glossy black finish. It is not sparkly.

Wow, that matte black VP is awesome. If only they made the decimo in that color...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
