i went with acrylic, with my main motivator being the array of color/pattern choices. i would be open to ebonite as well if that's how the group wants to go when the formal polls start.

I need to jump in here to make everyone aware of what is happening in my end.

First off, communication with me regarding his project his been next to nothing. There was one PM and one quick phone call.

So I'm actually the most in the dark regarding this project.

I'm not saying that this can't happen. Actually, I would like for it to happen.

But these group buys can be logistical nightmares if they are not run correctly.

So it can happen, but it has to happen a certain way which is mutually beneficial for my business and also all of you.

With the LA Pen Show being this week, I'm way too busy to deal with this right now.

I have some ideas as to how this can happen. But allow me some time.

So keep these threads and polls going. Once I have LA under my belt, I'll be better equipped to put my ideas out to all of you.

Thanks

Brian

How about Sunday I approach Brian with the top material and get some suggestions from him about colors designs etc. for the material. Start a poll with those colors to pick the top colors for the material?

Here's what I'm thinking:

1) Gonna shoot Brian an email asking about overlays and bulb fillers so we can put that question to rest.

2) The Goulets might be our distribution point. I will also ask Shawn (watch art) about his kickstarter experience. Otherwise we will need a trusted member to distribute.

3) Gonna close polls Sunday evening. Then open new ones with the top three pen models to get a final model. At the same time I will take the top material and start looking into color choices. Hopefully by the time Brian is back from L.A. we will know what we want and who will be our distribution. Then we can go to Brian about prices

Sound good? Did I miss anything?

ebonite for me please:)

"No one needs to rotate a pen while using an oblique, in fact, that's against the whole concept of an oblique, which is to give you shading without any special effort."Professor Propas, 24 December 2010

"IMHO, the only advantage of the 149 is increased girth if needed, increased gold if wanted and increased prestige if perceived. I have three, but hardly ever use them. After all, they hold the same amount of ink as a 146."FredRydr, 12 March 2015

I think we need a run-off between ebonite and acrylic, please. None have an absolute majority.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
