The Balmoral really does it for me!

The Trafalgar. I missed them at the time they were sold and have been looking to get hold of one for more than a year now, but I haven't seen any for sale within the EU, only a couple from the US.

I am happy to report I now have a Trafalgar, albeit one that skips occasionally despite having back to Conway Stewart twice. Truly stunning pen.

The Answer to Life, The Universe and Everything? 42 or Good fountain pens and Ink?

Re your quote: 42 good fountainpens....

Is your Trafalgar a converter filler? Just curious, as one of my CS converter fillers (Belliver) skipped quite badly until I switched to a Faber Castell converter, which is made of a different material, and allows a better flow.

AFAIK all Trafalgars are C/C. They are basically an LE version of the Nelson.

Alas many converters give problems like that. I don't use converters with my CS pens any more but I use the long Waterman carts. I happen to like Waterman Blue Black for general writing. Only when I have to scan notes I prefer a blacker ink.

Edit: Wow. Please excuse me. I came to this in a search, and didn't see that it was in the Conway Stewart forum until *after* pressing submit. :( Feel free to dump it if you would like (kind of a let down for a "first post"). But, I will check out the Conway Stewart pens.

I really really really want a Caelograph by Caren d'Ache. However, it is very pricy, and I suspect that by the time I have the money saved up it will no longer exist. :( Just check out the video, and I am sure you'll see why I want it!

Right now I have my Pilot M90 (and I am not sure that the Century II midnight Starlight is technically "limited edition", but it took me a bit of work to find one). :)

Thanks! Yeah, it took pressing "submit" to realize my mistake! I've been lurking in the shadows. :) Originally created the account to buy the M90.

Wow, just had a look at the CS pens, and the Blue Laurel caught my attention, as well as the Plumage. The Plumage keeps to my simplistic approach. I also have a soft spot for that Soka Monyo.

I want the matte Edwardian, which is bound to be sold out by the time I have the money. Whimper!

I want the Evolution back! And I would really love to see in both all silver and also a version with yellow gold trim (clip and bands) with a yellow gold nib. That would really be a FANTASTIC pen!! But please dispense with the unnecessary internal load balancer thingy - we don't need it.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
