Do You Have A Favourite Sold-Out Limited Edition?

We have a question featured on the Conway Stewart Facebook page, and thought I'd ask the same question to the CS forum.

Many of the archived Conway Stewart Limited Edition pens can be viewed at the following link: http://www.mvburke.com/archive.htm

Hi Mary

My favourite is the Trafalgar. Beautiful colour, good heft and size.

And the extra packaging is nice.

And guess what: Lucky me has got one. Took some calling back and forth, but I have the last one, I believe. (not the last number, but they had to call some shops to see who still had one available.)

I still think it is one of the most beautiful pens I own. (my top one being the Cartier Roman Numerals)

The Nightingales are super-cute and I'd love a full set of them. I'd also like a Teal Westminster.

Definitely would like a Teal Westminster or any of the coloured Duros [altho' they're too small for my preference]. And was it the Cromwell that had that glorious crimson?

Mary, how about an Arabian nights over a colored silver [like the Visconti Blue Ripple color]?? All that luscious silver filigree over COLOR!!!! Deep blue, crimson red, emerald green...or better yet, IMPERIAL PURPLE!

The Conway Stewart Drake (sterling silver) is the pen for me.

If I have to have a sterling silver pen - thats the one.

Nervous? No, I'm just thinking...

The gunsmith series: Balmoral, Sandringham and Windsor. Also the Evolution.

EDIT: and the Henry Simpole overlay pens - I believe there were at least two different CS LE's with Simpole overlays?

Model 100 Pointsettia and Coral Green. I'd love to see a Model 100 Silver Storm with silver trim and nib.

Not a LE, Mary, but had wanted a Duro, like the ones available a few years ago, all resin, no metal sections or cap ends...at least I think they're no longer available...and in the nice classic looking resin colors...

Must admit, I'm a bit confused as to why CS stopped making the Duro. Now a blue-stardust Duro, or maybe a BCHR... in lever filler :puddle:

Too many pens; too little writing.

That's a beautiful overlay on the Arabian Nights (I hadn't seen that one before), though I think it'd look better over a nicely patterned resin or ebonite than it does over vermeil.

I have only two Conway Stewarts, but think they are both quite special:

The Model 100 Poinsettia and the Churchill Combo in Blue.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
