Montblanc Factory Tour --- Tuesday 13 March 2012

Recommended Posts

I have just received confirmation from MB in Hamburg for another factory tour on 13 March 2012, also a Tuesday, similar to the one held earlier this week. After the feedback from FPN'ers who attended, I think such a trip is well worthwhile.

There is ample time for international travellers to start making plans... :puddle:

Those keen to join, let's start a list, and also email me at rockspyder7 at gmail dot com, the factory wants to know who we are in advance.

I can't go till the next month - booked in for a German holiday during Easter. Have fun!

Whilst I don't get the dates for next year's Board meetings until the end of October, I still have March free. Therefore, I am provisionally in for the 13th March.

I am really looking forward to visiting the MB museum and to swapping ideas and tips from my fellow FPN MB appreciators :D

Would like to but I am not sure that I will be available

Is there any more information on this? What time the tour would start etc?

How many can be in this tour?

It would probably mean sleeping one or two nights in Hamburg. :hmm1:

Hi all, I have only confirmed the date so far, I have not arranged for any specific number of visitors, I understand this is flexible, as long as they get our details in advance.

They mentioned the tour time of 09:00 - 15:00, which will include lunch and a museum visit, and a presentation in the afternoon.

There is no minimum limit, I will find out if there is a maximum limit.

I have a conference in Frankfurt the weekend before, and plan to visit Hamburg the Monday and Tuesday.

DovR - yes, that would be a good way to celebrate your birthday! Mine is just a day earlier

As soon as any of you are reasonably sure about joining, do remember to email or pm me

I am glad you posed those questions Dick. Hope you are going to make it! The more MB aficionados there are, the better the whole experience will be.

Hope you do eventually manage to make it Georges, it would be great to put a face and voice to all those posts. Sorry to hear that Makar can't make it this time around. Would have loved to have heard, first-hand about your collection to-date (I am still loving that black Pelikan M1000 by the way). Great to hear that Pen Nut and Lennard are onboard. Really looking forward to this wealth of experience.

09:00 - 15:00hrs makes for an excellent day. Given the way flights look from Manchester, it may well mean two nights for me in Hamburg. At least now knowing the time-frame, we can start to plan our flights and hotels etc. I suppose the sooner these things are booked in advance, the better the price, the more likely we are going to get what we want. Any particular recommendation on hotels in Hamburg?

Bwhaahahaha!! :roflmho: :ltcapd: Wait, seriously now, jesters do oft prove prophets... :ninja:

I'm sure the previous group can give us some info on hotels in the area? I'm finding out what I can in the meantime.

Indeed, putting faces and names to the FPN "characters" would be a privilege!

The nearest station to the factory is Eidelstedt of S3 line.

It's only several stops from city center e.g. Jungfernstieg.

You can plan your trip within public transport using the scheduler

In http://www.hvv.de

I stayed near Stadthausbruecke and the trip was like 15 min, plus 5-10min walk from station to the factory.

The public transport system is easy to use even for non German speaking person like me.

I would stay near Jungfernstieg as its most central.

Best regards, Kai

To those who know those cities better than I, why not fly in and out of Hannover. You could hire a car and visit the Pelikan landmarks, too. Rocket up the A7 in an hour (minus the fiddly bits in the Hann and Ham traffic). Plus hit a fishing village on the North Sea for some fantastic prawns.

  • 1 month later...

is this tour still on?

Lennard

I, for one, certainly hope so. Lets keep in touch about this to avoid any last minute hiccups.

Really? An 80x80 pixels avatar-type picture in the heading of a wanted advert is threatening your well-being?

My apologies then. Thank you. Goodbye.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
