Iroshizuku Chiku-Rin Was Way Too Light For Me...

Let me preface this by saying that I LOVE Iroshizuku inks and that yellow based greens are typically my favorites. But I was disappointed when my ink arrived last week. Chiku-rin is much lighter than the writing samples I saw online. It was more of a pea soup green color that was almost unreadable in anything finer than a medium nib. I was THIS close (*pinching two fingers together*) to putting it for sale on the Marketplace when I got the idea of adding a little blue cyan-colored ink to slightly darken it. So, I added 1cc of Iroshizuku kon-peki ink to the entire bottle. I now find this ink to be a more pleasing green apple color which is a little darker, shades more, and is easier to read:

In case the picture doesn't work, here is the direct link:

Tried to edit it to include picture, but it's not working.

zquilts- I bought the ink from Taizo Okagaki, (Engeika on eBay,) as soon as I heard it was released in Japan.

marvinreader- Thank you for your compliments! I found an old book at our town library on Roundhand a few years ago and just practice when I can.

i'm not a yellow-based green (or yellow-based anything) fan, but uhhh...that is a great mix--- the second color is much easier on the eye---and that penmanship is just beautiful---awesome--much envy

euphoria, indeed

Very elegant writing and I really like the color change after you added the second Iro color. I already have five Iro inks in the box and am trying to resist adding the new green to the one I already have!

Thanks so much for posting this! Beautiful result! I must say the original color still looks really nice, but yes, a touch too light... maybe I can stop lusting after it quite so much & stick to my tried & true Herbin Vert Olive. (Or the new Diamine Meadow, a more affordable experiment....) You may have just saved me $28

Very nice penmanship. By the way, how are liking the Kuro-temunuri Piccolo? I'm in the midst of some options consideration for the exact same pen.

Wow this is lovely! It reminds of R&K Alt-Goldgrün. Captivating :puddle:

Yes, it's like Gold Green's fresh and crisp, innocent younger sister.

Saw them for sale on Jetpens today, but ooo...$31 for 50mL....

Think I'll stick with inexpensive alternatives instead, since I haven't found a color that's captured me heart and soul yet (like KTC or Black Swan in Australian Roses~~ )

The new colour ... with the kon peki added in reminds me of fresh grass!

Lovely.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
