Stumbled on this site not too long ago, been lurking for awhile.

I have a few fountain pens.

Waterman Expert (Dont like this one)

Waterman Harmonie

Schaefer Targa

Parker 51

Parker Sonnet

My next pen is hopefully going to be a Pelikan M400. Shopping around, looking for a good deal.

Maybe treat myself to an early christmas present.

Just need the wife to buy it for me...LOL

Hey Luckkkyyy,

You from Joyzee... I'm from Joyzee. :D

Welcome to FPN! This a great place for collectors, enthusiasts and just plain old day to day users. Just one cautionary statement required by law: this place is extremely addictive. So be careful.

Best wishes,

Sean

Hello and welcome aboard! Looks like you've got some nice pens and are off to a good start. Which is your favorite thus far?

To be honest, I really like the Waterman Harmonie.

Its a sleek black body with gold trim and a fine nib. Its not to heavy or an eyesore sticking out of my pocket as I stroll the hallways. One day, I will write a review as I didnt see it featured under the Waterman section.

Starts up every time. At the moment, I am using the Noodlers luxury blue. The funny thing is that the Noodlers ink seems to bleed through the nib on occassion and makes the nib look sloppy to on-lookers. Other than that...its a really nice ink in regards to color and how quick it dries. However, I like the Waterman Blue better as its a bit more richer or vibrant, probably due to the violet pigment.

The Waterman Expert was given to me as a gift from my wife and contains a M nib (like Fine points). A fantastic pen, and fits so well in my hand, but dont tell the wife, its not my favorite, thus my venture for a Pelikan.

I am still researching and received a good quote from Pam. But undecided as so many have advised to pay a little extra and reach out to Richard.

The Schaefer Targa was a gift from my mother in-law. Really nice pen, sterling silver, slim, but heavy.

The Parker Sonnet was my first purchase, who could go wrong with a Parker...Still use it, but has fallen out of the rotation at the moment.

The Parker 51 is a classic, but not my everyday writer. Something, Dad had given me some time ago, so its special in its own way.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
