FPN INK UPDATE 10/11/11

Changing of the guard

The Ink sale is over, however if you sent an order prior to today the sale price will be honored.

The remainder of the stock is being transferred to the new ink person and he will also be getting a new case of the van Gogh Starry Night Blue.

There will be a new ordering system and information on that should be coming soon. Please do not send order until the new system is set up.

Thank you all for your patience.

I love both of those inks. A 4.5oz size of each is sweet.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

In the body of the note you list starry night as the second 4.5 oz bottle instead of tulipe noire...if it is truly starry night I will take one but suspect it is a typo!

Sadly, the FPN store doesn't work on my computer, will there be an alternate way to order FPN ink? What are the 'other' colors hinted at above?!

Wondering,

Rusty

Hi Rusty,

Please reread the message: ordering of inks is via the old process, i.e., sending an email to the admin mail box with appropriate message title.

The 'other colors' refers to the two other ones we have available (GMB and DTN). Once Elaine has sold out all of her remaning stock, the new person will start selling these too.

HTH, warm regards, Wim

The current stock is being sold through the old method as shown above. I'm sure that when the inks are sold in the FPN Store they will an alternate method for those who can't use the store.

Sorry, the "other" colors refer to the Tulipe and the Brown, meaning that when I run out of each color they will be available at the usual price from the new distributor.

Thank you, Elaine, Wim. Yes, that's what I meant, when the original stock is gone and the new stock is being sold through the store. I hope you're right Elaine.

Blessings,

Rusty

How is Tulip Noire compared to Black Swan In Australian Roses? I still need a good purple, but I don't want to duplicate or near-duplicate BSAR, though I'm using that one up really fast.

I'd say it's a completely different color altogether.

Tulipe Noire and BSAR are similar colors, but very different performing inks. BSAR shading is more dramatic and of course, exhibits the "black swan" effect.

Yeah ... they sure look like two different colors in the scan to me, also.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
