Levenger Seas Nib Change - Or Sell

Recommended Posts

Hello - I have spent quite a bit of time on this forum but only posted a couple times. I have a Levenger Seas (the generation with the white dot on the clip) in green. I love the aesthetic of the pen but the nib is just too fine (it is a Fine). I bought this new from Levenger several years ago and have been spending much more time with my fountain pens lately. I'm winnowing out what I won't use and I'm afraid this pen may be one of these. My question is: is there a way to put any other nib on this pen? I prefer a Medium, though I've not been able to locate one specific to this pen. Not being a Sheaffer expert, I appeal to you. If this is not a convenient solution, I'm not yet at a point where I want to keep pens around to have them sit, so I have decided to sell the pen.

Thank you for any help.

Brandon

The nib and section on the Seas pens is the same as on the Balance II series so replacements can be found.

Or you could send the pen and a whole bunch of money to a "nibmeister" and have the nib reworked into something you'd prefer.

In fact, there are several nib/sections available on eBay right now.

You can also contact the Sheaffer Repair Center, in Fort Madison, for a replacement nib or nib section. 1-800-FINE-PEN

The Sheaffer Balance II nibs do fit but are not the correct nibs for your pen.

Ah, then I would get the nib replaced. Richard Binder is recommended, but he is backlogged enough that you'll need another pen in the meantime. I liked my purple Levenger Seas pen (stolen) and would have bought another to replace it had it been available.

Thank you. Looks like I'll be putting it up for sale as I just bought a Lamy 2000 in medium to save the hassle. Someone will surely appreciate the native fine nib more than I. Very grateful for all the help.

Do you still have the fine nib? I have a medium I'd be willing to trade!

JefferyS from daChannel: Tell the boy that the Sheaffer/Levenger Seas series are serious pens. I have five and they're all my current favorite pens, especially a particularly wet med. nib in the aegean green. By the way, I resided in the Bouligny for many years. To Swagginman and "...all ya'll" (plural for ya'll): the Seas Series uses at least three different nibs in as many sections and some claim the Balance, others a different Connaisseur [sic], etc. will fit but are not compatible or correct for your pen. I've swapped two sections a medit. blue Levenger that didn't have the 2nd gold band on the grip and its a better, wetter, softer nib. So, if the foo shits, wear it.

Pretty sure the OP settled his issue from 2011 by now.

Sorry, Foo. It was a bad pun/joke from the early sixties re: if the shoe fits wear it. We weren't P.C. then but, then, no one cared.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
