Jinhao 325 Review

Brief introduction and First Impression:

A double jeweled pen that externally looks like a P61 but a little more slender, fully made of stainless steel, the clip and jewels both chrome plated.

1.Appearance & Design (9-10)

Its design reminds a Parker 61, but slender. The clip is very, very simple (not an arrow shape) and the cap is very similar to a P45 one, marked ‘Jinhao 325’ (I guess, it is in Chinese) on front, ‘Made in China’ on back, and made of stainless steel. This pen has a very good looking design.

2.Construction & Quality (8-10)

The pen feels very good on hand. Not cheaply, not a 'super quality' pen, just very good. The steel has a good finish. The section and body fits correctly, without looseness, but the threads are made of transparent plastic. (be careful!)

3.Weight & Dimensions (9-10)

Comfortable weight and dimensions, are 13.5cm. capped, 12.5 cm. uncapped and 15cm. posted.

4.Nib & Performance (8-10)

An steel fine nib, that is not scratchy, not so smooth, just correct. Never skips and always writes from the beginning, never fails. Its hooded nib is a well known advantage on this case.

5.Filling System & Maintenance (7-10)

Aerometric (has a plastic breather tube), similar to a Parker 51 but cheaply. It loads a acceptable amount of ink. The threads are transparent, so you can see approximately the amount of ink remain on your pen.

The construction of this filling system feels cheap but not rustic.

6.Cost & Value (7-10)

Here (Argentina) its costs U$D 23 aprox.

7.Conclusion (Final score 48/60=8.0) Very good everyday pen, well balanced and very good looking. For the price it is a good product to include on your rotation.

Thank you for the review! This pen looks nostalgically familiar! And you have given it excellent rating in most areas! I must get one too!

Does someone know whether is it possible to find a 325 flighter on eBay? I've bought a plastic one, that I keep in my rotation, because it's a good sturdy writer, but I wouldn't mind acquiring a steel one.

Thanks

Nice review I also have this pen flighter type and plastic one, both very dependable. Amongst my most used pens yet by far the cheapest.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
