I could no longer resist - I've just ordered a nebula with a fine italic nib. This will be my first modern CS and I can't wait for it to arrive!!

Tried to order one in Dartmoor through The Writing Desk. Seems they are not allowed to sell this one. Some colours are reserved for "collector club members" and can only be ordered through CS. Shame this was not mentioned in the newsletter or on this forum.

Hi,

The Heather and Dartmoor finishes are only available to members of the Collectors Club and therefore cannot be purchased through retailers. I am sorry that you were not aware of this fact, however it is stated on the website link for the resin finishes as well as the PDF download.

We have a limited amount of the Collector Club finishes and if you wish to purchase the Heather or Darmoor finish these options are still available to you. We will also be circulating the Collectors Club newsletter within the next week or so and there will images of the two finishes.

Kind regards,

Mary Burke

Mary, if someone fancies the Dartmoor or Heather finishes, is it easy enough to join the collectors club, so that they can order them?

The collectors club is not much more than a newsletter subscription, you can subscribe on the CS site.

It's annoying that i have to order a Dartmoor C100 through CS because most retailers have a better price.

The first wave of CS100 pens have been made in our factory and a shipment is being sent on Friday to the US!

Wow, Malcolm! What a gorgeous pen! Congratulations!! Now I can't wait to get mine (to be delivered at the DC Show). I'm wondering if anyone on this thread has received a Brown Swirl. I'd love to see a picture of one, if so.

Does the Brown Whirl (374) have a green base color as shown in the picture of the Churchill in this string or does it have a base color of grey/black as shown in the samples?

Is it just me or do the sample pics that Mary posted in post #2 for Burgundy Blush and Crimson Blush look very much the same (to me they look identical).

Eagle Eye!

Yes, you are correct. I am waiting to receive a Model 100 in the Crimson Blush so I can made the necessary change to the image. I have also advised the people who have ordered the Crimson Blush accordingly.

With kind regards,

Mary Burke

I wish to know if there is a difference between Blue Quartz and Marbled Blue please.

CS changed the name quite a few years ago from Blue Quartz to Marble Blue. Below are two images --- the Clogau Gold in Marble Blue and the image of the Conway Stewart Model 100 in Blue Quartz.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
