Inks With A "sheen"

Oh. My. Goodness. Very handsome sheen. From the name, the "color" of the ink is a deep blue?

Check my thread on it... https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/307974-robert-oster-signature-inks-picture-heavy/

Deep Sea has tealish quality... (some green in it).. very similar to Pelikan Aquamarine.

Looks great!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Reminds me of a slightly darker and orange-r (??) Sailor Honey/Hachimitsu. Great sheen on that coral!

Oh, there you go--showing off another orange ink that I positively NEED to have! Z will be so pleased.... :lticaptd: Wonderful thing about Z is, though, that he'll get it for me, no matter HOW many beautiful orange inks I already have  .

EDIT: Dagnabbit! Looks like Goulet Pens doesn't carry Lamy Coral :o! I guess I'll need to go looking for it elsewhere.... Goulet Guys--Why?!? :D

Yes, it looks quite orange in the picture. This is a very interesting color - when the light hits it one way it looks orange, when it hits it at a different angle it's pink. You can see bits of the pink here and there in the photo (see the 's' on 'feeds'). It's vivid and intense, and definitely a fun color. I'm glad I bought it.

I believe the Lamy Coral was a LE run to match the Coral Safari. I haven't been able to find it online anywhere. You might have some luck on that one auction site perhaps? There's a bottle on Amazon but it's above $50 bucks. I hope you're able to find a bottle of it somewhere!

PenStore in Sweden seem to still have stocks at €8 per bottle (exc VAT). I've ordered from them before & they were excellent. International shipping was very reasonable (to the UK). Expect to pay about €10 on 2 bottles (based on my experience)

Robert Oster Signature Ink - Deep Sea..

I'm not crazy about sheen, but boy these pictures make me want to buy all the inks with sheen!

Unexpectedly two inks where I noticed sheen are Quink Blue and Pilot Blue!! Also Sailor Jentle Blue, but I am pretty sure everyone notices sheen in Jentle blue. Quink and Pilot were surprises though.

Pilot? Boring old Pilot Blue? Good grief! Must try that.

I don't promise anything! Maybe it helps when some of the water content evaporates. But I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw some sheen (nothing strong though like Sailor eg). Good luck!

Edit to add: I went back and definitely noticed sheen in even more pages I wrote with Pilot blue, subtle but there. It was with a Pelikan m205 and a juicy M nib.

Did an auto tone adjustment in PS, so that might have affected the color, but that sheen is so beautiful ;)

Thanks! That worked :-). I should now have a bottle on the way. Dog knows how long it will take to get here from Sweden, though. We'll see!

vorpal (post #618 above) has found a seller with stocks of Coral in the US. But hopefully your bottle won't take too long to arrive from Sweden.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
